Title: Christmas drink drive blitz..
Post by: philoldsmobile on December 21, 2007, 05:09:26 pm
the police across most counties are aiming their random breath tests in the mornings rather than evenings this year.

apparently most people are sensible enough to get a cab home after a night on the booze, but often still drive the following morning (i think almost everyone is guilty of that at least once)

due to the increasing strength of beers, and larger spirit and wine measures being served, it takes far less than people realise to be over the limit.

after 4 pints of higher strength (5%) beer, it can take up to 13 hours for it to be clear of your system, and just 2 pints can easily put you over the limit. a pint of beer has now been upgraded to 3 units.

im sure with most people, the hangover would put you of drivin in the morning,
if the police wanted to stop drink driving, im sure random breath tests out side pubs would make people think twice,(http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/rolleyes.gif)

thing is, you can actually feel fine and still be over the limit... its quite scary actually.. 4 pints wont make you wrecked on the night, but 8 hours later you are still over..
