New Head Gasket.
« on: October 15, 2007, 09:05:08 pm »
One of tonights jobs has been to replace the head gasket on the Honda, it's been leaking oil when cold. As soon as it's up to temperature the rubber gasket seems to expand and it reduces the leak.
Phoned the bike shop and he sent two over free of charge, not bad when you find out that they cost £23 each

So it was Seat & Tank off and then the very difficult job of removing all the plumbing around the air filter box, dammed if I know what the hell all the pipes do
Used my new second hand free workshop manual from a Hawk Forum member in the states ( thanks Gavin ).

All nice and clean : [img]http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c294/fbody007/RC31/Coverclean.jpg?t=1192481472\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>Gasket sealer : [img]http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c294/fbody007/RC31/CoverSealer.jpg?t=1192481497\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>Rubber gasket fitted : [img]http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c294/fbody007/RC31/Covergasket.jpg?t=1192481522\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>More Sealer and then put back on : [img]http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c294/fbody007/RC31/Coverfinal.jpg?t=1192481625\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>The round hole in the middle is for the second spark plug ( two per cylinder ) The picture below shows the hole with plug somewhere below [img]http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />

Gotta say that it's not a very easy bike to work on, you need small hands and lots of long reach tools, big thanks to Management who mucked in tonight. The front gasket appears OK so I've left that alone because you have to take the radiator and all the coolant pipes off to get to it [img]http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/down.gif" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />
Her is Management screwing the air box back on
