oops.. project minty rebuild..
« on: June 14, 2009, 07:35:48 pm »
had a bit of a sky / ground / wall moment while out on the CBR this morning, a later inspection of the road surface revealed a patch of oil i rode through just as i hit the brakes for a corner. mind you, i managed a skid mark about 80ft long!

damage on the CBR is restricted to clocks, headlight upper fairing, a bent exhaust bracket, broken RH mirror, and a few scrapes on the fairing lower.

damage to me is less obvious but there, i'm on crutches, my right hip hurts like hell, but other than that, i'm fine. the RST suit peformed amazingly well, and is almost completely unmarked, with just a couple of marks about an inch long on the left elbow.

bike is coming home on saturday in a transit, and i'm gonna be off work for a week or two.

oh, i'm on prescription strength co-codine and something else thats kinda like stronger ibuprofen, the codine is making me a little high, so its all good!

could be worse - priced up everything and it seems i can have the bike back in pre accidnet condition for about £120

oh well, we all make mistakes..

its lacking some very important safety features imo 2 more wheels would help and maybe the rider could encase themselves in metal with a roof that has doors to get in and out hey how about belts that hold the rider in the seat

glad yer ok though piglet

pretty much, walking is almost impossible, even with crutches and pain killers, but dissapointingly there is no visible injury at all.

Glad to hear you're ok. Have a good rest this week

Although, I know you needed time off - but this wasn't the best way to get it

Glad you're not seriously hurt.

Dean, aka Hemiguy also had a motorcycle accident this weekend and wasnt so lucky. He has a broken leg and a shattered foot and is still in hospital.

Be careful out there

We should go into business making those!

We could call it a...

4 wheeled bike you sit in as opposed to on.
Or a car.

Catchy?

Glad to hear that the damage to the bike isn't as bad as first thought.

Must be more careful, though.

Also - sorry to hear about Hemiguy, too - that sounds nasty.

thanks guys.. already found most of the parts i need, and am off work for another 2 weeks , so in reality its just going to be a good saturday to get the bike back as if nothing ever happened..

fortunatley the new fairing came off very lightly, just some minor repairs needed... Shiftini, you're our resident fibreglass expert, fancy a project?
