LG blow chunks.

Stick with the Samsung.
The first one posted was a series 5 wasn't it?

I'd take that with the 5 year warranty from Richer Sounds.
Costco won't have them under £400 but they would have one several generations newer for £500 I think (inc 5 year warranty)...

That's a series lower and isn't full HD, that's why it's cheaper... Most definatly NOT the next modle up...

Bought one of very first Samsung 15" LCD's for the bedroom years ago ( circa £400 ) It's been 100% reliable and was the first TV we had that you could watch in bright sun light

Our lounge TV is a 40" Samsung bought from John Lewis about 2 years ago, only two criticisms :

1/ It's too slow to change channel, it seems to wait to see if your going to add a third channel number ( freeview is only uses double digits ).

2 / If the screen is filled with a blue water or blue sea view, it can appear pixilated.

Apart from that

I was always told that Samsung have some crazy quality control on dead pixels which almost make them a thing of the past.

I have a small 20" all in one as it solves me having two screens for my comp and tv.

THe next TV I buy will be a Samsung - no question about that.  Placed side-by-side the simple finish and build quality of the LG's are clearly inferior.

That alone is enough to put me off.

Cheers Titted one . . I'll have a lookie.

Hmm.

Is this one any good ?

It seems excellent for the price : £489.95

http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/samsung/le37b550/sams-le37b550

Tescos have it for £599.97.

Or here for even less and free delivery.

I have a 42" Samsung, Hate it, Hate it, Hate it.

It's crap quality (Full HD, Blah Blah Blah) and looks great, when it is switched off.

Takes ages to turn on, (always has done), takes ages to flip between sky, AV1, PS3, Normal tv etc and the sound quality on it is terrible (You will have to buy a surround sound system of some sort if you don't already own one).

I would get A Sharp, Sony or Toshiba...

But this Sony, and I know 1st hand, will annihalate any Samsung for the money...

http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/sony/kdl40v5500/sony-kdl40v5500

You need 100hz, 50hz is terrible, and the colour contrast makes a HUGE difference

How old is it? I know mine can seem clunky but I can live with that. The sound is on par with other tvs in our house.

1 1/2 years. The ex of my now wife bought it and never collected when I moved in, so by default, I took it for free.... But if I had to pay £5 for it it would have been too much...

I really can't spend anymore than £500 on a new telly - and that would have to include delivery, too.

Titsy's sounds fine to me and not noticed any delay either.  But the last one was an ancient CRT.

Pictures not fantastic atm as its desperatly trying to upscale from a Standard Deffinition Sky+ box...

I appreciate that - but I just can't stretch to that . . . do they do a 37" version ?
