Interested in old day-vans, trucks, classics, rods etc, as the bus still has quite a bit left to do on it. Ideally something that needs very little, perhaps quite tatty, but I can have a little fun with it.

Any suggestions?

Not huge amounts of money (as that is reserved for the VW )

What would around 2k buy me?

Not keen on the Astros, never have been. They look too ricer for me

Then I start thinking about:

Sorry to anyone that has one (although I don't think anyone does on here)...

This up the road from me...

Hmmf, that would be good, but:

Quoting: eBay Seller

Has only done less than 9,000 miles since having a full gear box rebuild costing £1,391.10 .

Then:

Quoting: eBay Seller

but gear change not always how it should be

Why would you not take it back to be repaired? 9k miles is not a lot for the gearbox to be broken again!

I guess you shouldn't be too hard on him, at least he has been honest enough to point that out before you waste your time looking at it or even money buying it to then find out.

Wow! That's awesome! (Batman dayvan)

Yeah, I think you'll be looking at vans that need stuff doing. There was another V6 Dodge in Norwich but had dodgy paint.

Not a lot.

Maybe a Ford Aerostar.

Be cautious of that Dodge . . . Martyn had one just like it but it kept chewing belts for unknown reasons.  I think he tried everything before selling it on.

Dayvans are massively over priced for what they are . . . hence why I ended up with the Pig.

For £2000 you'll get :

An old Ford Econline (sp), High miles and probably rust
An old G20 - lots of rust, probably high miles
A butchered and/or rusty Astro and high miles
Random Panel vans (not dayvans)
The odd dodge

£3000 you stand more of a chance . . £4000 you'll get a good'un . . .

I took a chance on a "random" and got fairly lucky with the Pig.

Hmm I thought so

I had a look around and you're totally right. There are '95 Rams up at 8k

Think I will keep hold of the cash for the bus or if anything interesting comes up locally.

I've just bought a Grand Voyager

It's a Chrysler obviously, so I suppose it's American except for a few, minor details:-

+ Right Hand Drive
+ Diesel
+ Manual

However, as much as it isn't perfect, it's been brilliant so far, silver, 7 seats (4 captains chairs like the Astros), all removable, climate air con, elec windows, elec, heated front seats etc etc. 120k Miles. I'm the 3rd owner.

£1600

Just a thought.

On a side note, Astros have rocketed in price, the driving position is a little 'Off to one side', but I did like my one.

My Pop had one of these, great engine (V6 3.3 petrol), very reliable but terrible fuel economy (15-20mpg) as he was using it as a daily driver. Fine as a second car / toy though.

His had some issues with the automatic gearbox around the 180k mark, but kept going up to 230k when he sold it. It is probably still chugging around somewhere.

Don't be stupid, the end of my road, or I'm not interested

(That's a bit of an unfair comment, Cornwall is about as far as you can get, not only Cornwall, but Penzance!!!!!)

I was more making a reference to the size of the thing and how much you get for your money.
