Please could I have everyone's opinion of this:

It has the 2.5 Diesel engine from a Ford Transit, along with the manual gearbox. Do you think it is too pissed about with to be worth considering?

I am mainly thinking of resale value here. The idea is to get another 'toy' to play with over the summer and use as a daily, take the Cherokee off the road to repair some issues on that, then use the Cherokee again and sell the truck.

Personally I do not mind the engine conversion as I will use it as a daily driver for a while, the saving in fuel would be a welcome bonus. However, when i come to sell it on, do you think most American car enthusiast would want the original engine in there?

I mean, would it be difficult to sell on or would I loose money?

This may be me being small minded, but when I think American car or truck, I think V8, mostly petrol too, so the appeal of an inline 4 diesel Transit engine is low.

I think you would struggle to sell that on to an enthusiast, but to someone who doesn't know or care, probably not. However I don't believe it'll have anything like the value it would have if it was stock or that they are asking for.

The big thing that would put me off is that I don't think any Transit van engine would have the grunt to haul that thing round and make it usable. Those things are huge and heavy and according to the advert its running the entire running gear which just wasn't designed to carry such a big lump around.

Personally, avoid.

Maybe for £1500, but no, I'd avoid, too.

A 2.5L tranny motor won't be THAT economical either !!

Defiantly not a project. Anything American I would consider. I do not mind what engine it has to be honest, although a nice burbling V8 would be desirable.

There was a Morris Minor for sale locally. I had to talk myself out of it on the way to the cash machine

It will probably end up being a Beetle though. I know them well, they hold their value and will be very easy to sell-on again. Plus, there are plenty for sale, so finding one locally should not be a massive problem.

It's been for sale on and off for a couple of years by a few different sellers, seems to be getting cheaper each time as well! As said, it won't be that economical either, £1200 to £1500 tops, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole personally
