Maybe it looks different on Windows, but on Mac it's the same, but with an added 'apps' bookmark, which can be turned off.
Hmm was on my desktop at the weekend and spotted that (extra icon for apps)...and the option to use it in "windows 8 mode" thought RK was talking about a significant interface change.. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

significant interface change..
As I say, unless Windows is different, it has not really changed (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

Updated with no difference, running across, XP, 7 and Lion.

EDIT - The "Apps" tabs are gone from the page, too, you can't flick between history and apps anymore . . .
I think you are looking at the new-tab window. Just press home and you should have your usual default webpage back again. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)
Apps are now located in the icon that looks like lots of small boxes at the top right. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

No, I just get the new tab page.
You used to be able to flick between history and apps (I used to keep it on apps) but now all you get is history and the search bar.
