depends on what depth you want to go to - basic usage is a few hours, intermetidate is a couple of days really indepth is days / weeks as its huge....

like most office products, you can get up and running with it in within a day for basic stuff as Ian says. What are you trying to achieve?

yup basics are easy enough. I consider my self reasonably proficient and even did a module at uni on it but I barely scratched the surface of what it can do.

It's not too bad, look at it this way, Excel has many uses, It simply depends on which use is what you are looking for.

I use it mainly for spreadsheets etc. But the programme can do more than that, I just don't need to know how right now

All depends what you want it to do matey, I dud 2 excel modules at Uni, each one lasting about 4 months, 6 hours a week plus assignments.

What is it you need it to do, I may be able to start you in the right direction? Pm me the spec if need be.

As has been said above, it depends on what you want to do.

Basic maths and equations is as simple as typing so can be learnt in hours.
Learning the more complex functions can take a few days if your teaching yourself (its a matter of knowing what you want to do, then finding out how to use excel to help you).
Anything more than that will probably require learning visual basic for applications (VBA) which can take a while...

The help in excel has improved alot on recent years, if you want to know how to do something, try there first - it worked for me.

I'm self taught (at uni and work we were expected to know it already, so no modules or formal training

) and now consider myself an advanced user. I use it most days at work.

I have a book on VBA for excel you can borrow if needed, when you've mastered the basic stuff.
