Yes.  I was using the Vaseline to grease up my (water pumps) O-Ring.

depending on how much beer I drink later, may even go out after my shower in my dressing gown and put some top-coat on it so it can be refitted (hopefully) tomorrow . . .

We'll see . . .

Well - It got to damp last night to paint anything more so I went out this morning and got that union in top coat.

All being well it should be refitted after work.

TITSY -

Based on that dashboard template you found on eBay as a start point - that provides locations for :

2 gauges @ 3 3/8" dia
4 gauges @ 2 1/16" dia . . . but protentially room for another 2 @ 2 1/16"

I'm looking at these Auto Meter ones . . . . .

http://www.jegs.com/p/Auto+Meter/745199/10002/-1/10339

There's only one Speedo, there, with an Odometer . . . (which has a tiny tach built-in) . . . which I'm not keen on.

No fuel pressure gauge in that lot, either.

Nah.

Not a fan of white gauges in post-50's cars.

They look wrong in my opinion . . . the crude, black ones will suit the Camaro quite well.
White faced ones would look stupid.  Maybe in a British sports car . . but not in an 80's yank.

Deffo black in the Camaro imho. especially if your still planning black paint.

The font is nicer in the white one though...not super keen on the italics in the black....but thats being very picky

Err.  No.  They still look white to me.

The bezels are ally, yes, but the faces are definately white.

But hey.  What do I know.  I'm colour-blind.

They still look white, or off-white to me . . . . And would still look crap in an 80's yank.

And stop replying to your own posts . . . it'll just lengthen this thread unnecessarily and the "good stuff" will get lost in the crap.

what about the Colbolt:

They appear to be nearly double the price across most of the range.

I prefer the simplicity of the Designer Black . . . but TBH, this was merely an exercise at this time.

We will need to sit down and work out what'll be most suitable but I don't think it's worth filling 5 pages of forum space with . . .

Now we have a few shortlisted we can work from there . . . I'll pop round at some point this week.

Come on, Edge - we've covered that already.

It says ally on their website but the picture(s) clearly looks white/off-white - to me and, obviously, others, too.

Regardless of that, however, they'd look crap in the 'Maro - there's no billet anything in there, no brushed trim, no polished bits on the dash . . . to add ally gauges with ally bezels would be utterly out of place . . . like putting billet ally heater controls in a SN95 Mustang . . . .

O.K, back on topic - here's an update.

Here's the brake union I painted this morning - just about to be refitted in the 'bay.

Obviously not everything requires painting or can be painted at all . . some parts just need a bloody good clean . . . !

And here's the Booster, bracket, union and reservoir plus the start of the new S/S brakelines fitted.  Just behind this is the clutch reservoir fitted to its painted bracket.

Next job . . . . .

Tidy the washer/wiper motor and refit.  Then do the same to the steering column.

EDIT -

As Ryan pointed out this evening - the engine bay has got very dusty !

It'll be wiped down before the motor goes in.
