With a decent set of wheels/tyres ( rusty if you like ) and yes it'd be ok.

thats ace like dean says loose the bumper but what id like to know is once youve got your rat rod just right with the right level of rust ect how do you preseve it and stop it getting worse

it needs a shotgun hung in the back window

As dean said WD-40 or simply matt clear coat over it

The guys over on Modified Cadillac use an old diesel oil/kerosene mix on their chassis'.

Supposed to be great for protecting the metal.  

Albeit a tad smelly.

there's a amgazine that gets imported thats all about rat rods, i used to buy it every now and than.  In there I read that one dude used around 3 gallons of wd40 coating the whole thing every year.  like he said, surface rust on those looks cool... structural rust isnt
