On the way back from my interview last week I got 2 chips in the windscreen. Spoke to Autoglass, who said the screen will need to be replaced as the chips are too close together and in the drivers line of sight.
Great fun, as the MOT is due on the 5th July.
Called MCE/NIG. They say my insurance does cover this and I just need to get autoglass replace it. Excellent, called them arranged for it to be fitted this afternoon. Paid them £60 as they said that was the excess.
Now for the really annoying part
Autoglass turn up at 3:30. First ask for my insurance docs. Fine, hand them over. Then told that my policy number is not correct. They reckon it should be about 20 digits long, when the nig numbers are only 8.
Takes about an hour of me calling Mce and Nig to make sure my policy number is right, which it is and nig have never had 20 digit long numbers
Autoglass person also speaks to their helpdesk to try and get this resolved. Finally Autoglass speak directly to NIG and agree that the policy number is correct.
But then find that there is a limit on the policy which means I would have to pay £820 to have the windscreen replaced
The screen itself is nearly £1300.
Cannot afford that at the moment. But my MOT is booked in for Wednesday morning.
Have no idea what to do now, so answers on a postcard please
