Ain't suggesting it's anything like a proper spray job, but for something like a daily driver could be the ticket

Hot Rod mag ran a feature with a (falcon ?) motor recently . . . It's not exactly $50 as such . . . there's ALOT of prepping and finishing involved but it basically uses standard ole tinned paint.

The pro's reckon it's a very impressive finish.

Yes, sanding and polishing required (like most paints) but no shrinkage . . . plus as you need so many layers the resulting "depth" is noticeable.

i used actual coach paint from the rolls royce suppliers on the truck, some of the bits came out mint, some utter shite... i guess it takes a lot of practise, and mine only had 1 coat, with a 2" brush !!!

Same here when i resprayed my dub with matt black paint..  I spent so long on the prepping..  I wouldnt want to do it again though.. Been there done that, can apprechiate how hard it is..  Think id leave it to the pros..

Saying that ive seen some showroom paint jobs for around £1-1.5k including the prep
1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ (modern classic daily driver)

gotta be better than the 4th gen paint jobs where they just dip the car in the big vat of paint then rub over it with an old cauliflower dipped in lard !
