Title: Lord & Lady Roadkill would like to address their adoring public . . .
Post by: Roadkill on August 27, 2012, 11:56:31 am
Cheers, Guys.  Really.

The day went as well as we'd hoped . . . not perfect but who wants that, anyway ???

Thanks to everyone who came, helped out in some way, posted comments, sent messages and a special thanks to those who contributed to our (now healthy) Honeymoon fund.

 . . and I mean that . . .

Thank you.

All of the money and presents we received were appreciated (we honestly didn't get any $hit at all!!) but some of the money was above and beyond anything we dreamed we'd get.

I can't thank you all enough.

The last few months have been pretty stressful . . . for various reasons (some of which you know about and some you don't) but it all fell into place on the day and you guys helped make that happen.

May I please ask anyone who took photo's to email copies to me directly via my gmail account . . There are some fantastic pictures on FB but the resolution is crap and I'd like decent ones - for obvious reasons !!

And, finally . . . (to keep our Guests happy as this is a Car forum after all) . . . .

Here's a Car !

Well I took about 260MB of photo's, tad bit over the normal email file size restrictions. (10MB IIRC)

You can either pick some you really want and I'll email them, or I can shove them on a USB stick or I can give you access to my Cloud storage and you can download whatever you like, whenever you like.

edit: Of course I'll have to Watermark them 1st (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/tongue.gif)

Downloaded, ta.  (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)

Funny though, some some to be a good res, some not . . . don't know if it's this monitor or not . . . (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

Some were cropped from larger photo's as keeping the zoom to a minimum helps with taking photo's in low light conditions.

DSCF7717 being a prime example, it will be more than fine if you print it out but full size on your monty monitor...the photo's only 781x1038 after cropping..

One day I'll get a decent flash gun...or a DSLR

Get a decent lens ;)

Unless like me you're limited to an extremely grainy 1600 ISO a better purchase would be a really decent lens.

I opted for the flash gun instead, but have found that to be more troublesome with relying on constantly changing settings depending on where in the room/hall/marquee I am. Saying that though, a Canon 530EX II With a cheap Gary Fong knock off diffuser is the best for getting inside wedding/party photos. Just hope no one around is too sensitive to the light!

My lens, though pretty good is fixed. http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/specifications/s/finepix_hs20exr/

Generally it's pretty good at low light considering the small sensor but people just wont stand still! :-)

Actually some guys on the forums have had good results be putting a "sock" over the built in flash. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

That spec reckons you should be able to shoot a F2.8 with some pretty high ISO, I would've thought you'd be alright with that for indoors at night. Guess it all depends on what lighting was laid on.

Looks an impressive camera, would make a very decent back up to a DSLR (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif)

Oh and my friend Penny could never afford a Speedlite + Diffuser so instead used a few Rizla fag papers wrapped around the pop up flash. Worked a treat for low light gig work.

Yeah it's great as long as no one moves (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif)

More practice required as well, many of the wedding shots were on Automatic low light/low noise EXR settings as I didn't have time/cba to play with the settings before hand....and after a couple of pints...well..I really cba. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/lol.gif)

Yeah, it's just a glorified point and shoot, same internals as Katie's compact but with a more flexible lens.

Aha! Fair play. I know sometimes I get too anal about the settings and never end up being happy. I always seem to be of the attitude 'fix that in Aperture later' (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/tongue.gif)

Yeah I can spend two or three times as long on a shot as Katie with her compact and still not get a better pic.

to be fair that's the first time I've used any of the Auto modes in earnest since I bought it...other than the DR Mode which work's quite well.
