Am I just being too honest?

Probably . . . . .

I'd chuck some stop smoke in it and see what happens . . . It made a difference in the Caddy . . .

Its not the exhaust smoke thats the problem, nobody gets that, its the plumes of exhaust gas coming from the breathers that would make people run a mile, so I have to mention it!

I'm assuming it's the valve seals that've gone ?

I'd take out the breathers both sides, see if one was worse then the other then whip the valve cover off and have a butchers'.

I've no idea what it is TBH
if you remove the oil cap or the PCV valve it comes from that side too.

Can't you route the breathers into pipes instead and either feed it back into the carb or somewhere less obvious?

Possibly, but there is now 1 major problem, its been on flebay twice with the problems listed, if i Hide / Bodge the fixes and relist it as a fine car everyone who's interested has already read the description at least twice so will either see right through it or ask a million questions about how it was fixed, the thing had over 2000 page views last time and is already on over 850 in under 3 days this time.

Also, completely re-do the ad - different words/style and different pictures, make it less obvious it's the same car.

You could ask chris to sell it via his account, too - completely throw people off ?

Best way to do that would be to route it into the Old Air tubes which feed air into the exhaust anyway. would have to go in behind the eletronic controller though.

Can't remember if it's been suggested, but is pulling the engine and selling them separate an option?

Well if I can't sell it in its present condition it will go to the Barn (when the works are done & space is avaliable)

When there it's fate will be decided, bearing in mind I have a complete engine rebuild gasket kit at home already for the LG4, and if people are willing to help me cos once inside the engine I can't tell its arse from its elbow! It will be inspected to see whats wrong.
If its anything thats in the Rebuild Kit (including valve stem seals) it will get changed, stuck back together and sold as a proper running car.  Basically a budget rebuild.
If Its Catastrophic then it'll get parted out

quick bodge idea....

buy a pair of those Mr Gasket breathers that take a hose off them, and route the hose into the air filter...

the smoke then gets chucked back into the engine

Why didn't I think of this before sticking it on flebay...  I even have a spare filter for that part of the stock air cleaner.
