Noticed there is a GTA III app for Android. £2.99.

Tried it briefly on my brothers Xoom (tablet)...looked pretty good and controls seemed ok.  Not bought it for my Sensation yet but tempted (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

I have it on the iPhone & iPad, it is great on the iPad but fiddly on the iPhone.
Amazing as it is though to have it as a mobile game though! (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)

GTA V -

Thats pretty good for L.A. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif)
Just been looking at some stuff, and it looks truly HUGE, the mountain in the video actually looks like a mountain, there's also a few interesting cars (and aeroplanes see the fast jet?) in the video incl what looks like a 3rd gen/2nd gen F-Body hybrid about 3/4 of the way through.

On the Aeroplanes note, GTA San Andreas had planes and they were a good addition to that game even on its scale which will be many times smaller than V by the looks of it.
I also hope they don't include Las Vegas this time, (it seems its all LA based) as the whole LV Strip & Casino rivalry thing has been done so many times its getting a bit old.

I'm sure there will be a load of new info this year as from that vid it looks like they're pretty well into development, it also looks a little better than GTA:IV but not too much so you won't need a Monster PC to run it, as the game will still be using the GTA:IV engine just tweaked a bit.

Looking forward to playing this (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/cool.gif)

Indeed mines still going strong and much faster with Windows 8 on it, played every game other than GTA4 that I've tried on it (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

Probably wont bother upgrading it though, if it goes pop I'll replace it with a Surface Pro or similar.

L.A Noire was O.K - There was a funny bug that I Googled and changed a setting for to sort out, but apart from that it was O.K.

wow not much there - have you gone through and deleted the old saved stuff from when i rebuilt your PC, think it somewhere on the C drive, and there was a fair amount of Gb in there....

Yup definately, possibly CPU upgrade IF the system board can take a higher CPU (will have a look when next over at the system board make/model), if not then poss new CPU & m/b combo (there are some good deals on OverClockers at the min for mobo / cpu / ram combo deals)

I think it's mostly old stuff, that i wasn't sure if you ( A ) needed it or ( B ) we'd copied elsewhere, probably worth a 10/15 min go through and check and delete if not.

ALso, somewhere in that folder will be the Steam Library of all teh old games, if you have re-downloaded them all, delete this old directory as that'll free up a fair amount straight away!!

There's over 200 GB in there . . . couldn't see anything I wanted, and yes, I've downloaded any games I'm likely to play again - I assume any new save data from steam is going into another folder ?

I did delete a few bits last night but it was telling me they're registry files so I got scared and stopped.  (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/sofa.gif)

That said, again, these should all be duplicates, right ?

Yup steam should be saving to either C:\Games\Steam, C:\Steam or C:\Program Files\Steam - if so then you should be fine to remove the folder in the 'backup' folder location.

Hmm, so long as you are defo in the old / backup folder should be fine - think it complaining as i will have backed up the windows files for safety so it probably doesn't like you deleting them, but again so long as you in the backup folder, should be fine.

 :yup:
Title: Re: GTA: V
Post by: FUBAR on March 25, 2015, 05:49:33 pm
Ok here's the specs from R* website:

Recommended specifications:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHZ (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHZ (8 CPUs)
Memory: 8GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD7870 2GB
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
HDD Space: 65GB
DVD Drive

To get that on Overclockers you'd be looking at something like £700 (£820 if you need to buy windows 7):

This as a Base, from their motherboard bundles section, provides the CPU needed, double the RAM (because windows needs some too) and a decent cooler, these are additional options:

Then this is the best bang for your buck on a GFX card at the moment IMO, this is slightly better than my current one (but I have 2 :)) and is the same price as ones down the register a bit, but with twice the memory:
(To go from a GTX 770 to a GTX 780 which is not 'that' near the top of the tree these days costs another £120)

To power the above I'd imagine you'd need a Power supply too, something like this is a good option:

Construction Tech Support Free from either me or Ian, (you will also need windows 7 at least, not sure if you're using that already, this is another £117 for 64bit professional)

Edit: I just ran an approximation of a PC setup based on the above through a "Power supply Calculator" & it said 500w power supply minimum, I'd say 600w minimum and 700w recommended for some "Head room"

Will have to have a think . . . was planning on getting a bigger hard drive on the next upgrade, too.

I was kinda budgeting £500 for the "gaming" part of the upgrade and then the hard drive on top.

I assume my motherboard isn't compatible / usable anymore ?

TBH if you don't need to buy windows 7 a new HDD would be a very sensible idea, I don't know when you last changed your HDDs but having a new one is always good, even just for peace of mind.

As for motherboards, your one is no longer compatible with the processors needed for a new setup

Same for me TBH, I just prefer the way it works, I've used 8.1 on the laptop at work and I always find it a bit 'clunky'
Windows 10 is supposed to be 1/2 way between 7 and 8.1 on its looks & functionality so that will be my next step one day.

Windows 10 is supposed to be 1/2 way between 7 and 8.1 on its looks & functionality so that will be my next step one day

Yeah it's a bit too close to win 7 for me atm ..hoping they make it better for touch screens, but anywho as I said it will be free for a year for anyone on win 7 upwards..even dodgy copies apparently..

New update coming 15/12
includes Vinewood hills mansions (expensive!) and new cars including a proper 2nd gen Camaro based car, one that looks like a TVR Tuscan and an AC Cobra
You can also own Luxury Yachts with helipads and what looks like a Limo with a Roof mounted Minigun :)
