There's still the windows, door, the suspended mezz floor, the dual-layer insulation in the walls, the roof insulation, the dry-lining on the walls and ceiling, plastering, artexing, plumbing, electrics, phone, workbench, sink, lighting, stereo and speaker install, internet & P.C install, modifications to existing brick piers (in the original garage) and further "false" walling and insulation, too.

This isn't gonna be some thrown-up shack. This is pimpin'. Hardcore.

Okay maby not finished..

And work progresses . . .

Here's a piccy of the panelling I did during the week (in the dark).

I just had to level some nail heads saturday but that took seconds . . .

On Saturday morning Ian came over and assisted me in getting the first (two out of three sections) of the roof timbers (for the ceiling) in.

I later went back out and got the noggins in too, also the new cross-beam required to take the last section of timbers.  I also finished sealing around all of the panels (to stop any damp or draught getting in behind the walls once they're plasterboarded).

Here's a piccy of two-thirds of the roof done . . .

Yesterday PhilO assisted in getting the last of the longer timbers in so tonight I can get out there and totally finish the ceiling framework.

I "acquired it" from my old place of work.

When It's free - I ain't questioning it !

Plus it's the XRP one and is as hard as nails !

The batteries are both f*cked, now, though.

Well, tonight I ran out of nice fresh timber so - not to be delayed - resorted to using the last of the timber from the old "lean to".

Good in a way 'cause it clears some more $hit out of the back garden and saves me some money - bad in that it just looks a bit crap for now.

Here's a piccy of all the ceiling framing done and dusted.  Well, done anyway.

Next job - run some cables !

Progress is slow with next-to-no money.

But I have now got the double-glazed windows ordered (will be ready this friday) and we started insulating the "long" wall.

Had a tidy-up outside, too . . but it still looks like a dump !

Next job is going on a shopping trip for the guttering and downpipe this friday, ready to fit the windows and guttering on saturday.

Done.

Guttering brought and fitted (note the now-redundant small downpipe on the right) - the new downpipe is on the left hand side.

Also, after some effort, fitted the 14mm Double-glazed windows, too.

The new downpipe actually returns into the extension (under the floor level) to connect to the original soak-away intake.

I figured this way is a better way of doing it as I know that soak away is definately capable of the extra run-off.

Note also in the above picture the layered insulation to the long wall . . .

Well, winter's over and soon the Camaro will be moved outside so work can continue with the garage extension.

All's been well over winter, no leaks or signs of damp areas so I'm happy.

The next two jobs are to finish the "long wall" and install the "mezz-floor" in the new section.

Although the floor will clear aload of materials out of the way it's also a very expensive job so I'll probably opt to do the wall first . . . hence I've just ordered some 150 x 8 mm flat steel bar to produce a bracket which is required for me to be able to acheive what I'm after.

I'm hoping to get the 'Maro out this weekend - but it'll depand on both the weather and the progress of parts from the states (as yet not everything is with Carl, so nothing is going anywhere at the mo).

i was hoping to extend our garage in the same kind of way BUT after adding it all up it looks quite expensive in relation to building a whole new one...

I only worked this out becuase our garage wants:

widening
lengthening
a new roof
a new roller shutter door

after drawing it all out it turns out we're only keeping half of one of the existing walls !!!!!  I dont think it can be an extension when 95% of the parts are new !!!!

What plans, if any, do you have for shelving/storage once its finshed? I have an 1800mm wide bay of this spare in the garage and could do with the room

And what's that somewhat racist slur meant to mean?  Is this another sweeping generalization based on nonsubstantiated evidence?

Besides. I think you're confusing us with the Jews

Thanks for the offer but I'm going to be putting in a work bench at the back (with a sink) and then installing cupboards below.

I used to have racking (of sorts) but I donated it to the barn . . . the plan is to minimise the amount of crap I keep in there so if Edge wants it . . .
