Swift Challenger Caravan
« on: September 24, 2010, 09:42:01 pm »
Looking to swap or sell my caravan as I want another yank

Its a late 80's early 90's Swift Challenger 2 berth. Its fully loaded with all the mod cons of its time.

The overall length is 20ft and its about 15ft inside, it was the biggest 2 berth you could get on a single axle.

It has a 3 burner hob with a separate grill and separate oven, 3 way fridge (Gas, 240v, 12v) hot and cold running water, shower and cassette toilet, there is also a gas fire and a JVC CD player with two speakers

There is lots of storage space in cupboards and draws etc and plenty of 12v lights

I put new carpet and underlay down only a couple of months ago and new vinyl in the dressing/loo area all the curtains were washed, the seating is from a newer caravan and is sprung not foam.

There is a roll out awning on the side.

All the tyres are good and don't look that old, all the lights work and it tows fine, we have used it three times this season.

Its loaded with bits, all you would need to do is pack some bedding and clothes and you could go straight out.

There is no damp in it and no funny smells and I have all the owners manuals as-well

£1,200 ono or swap WHY

Cheers Craig

Careful what you wish for, she is for sale.

She is a 2.4 Turbo Diesel with four speed auto. Drive away for £650.........

MOT'd till MAY next year and TAX'd till the end of OCT

As she is a 760GLE she is fitted with everything, it all works apart from the A/C and it tows that caravan no probs.

267,0000 Its the VW/Audi 6 cylinder D24T engine.

Yeah lots, Its had an engine at some point.

I'm in Devon but I would deliver for cost.

It uses no oil or water, it don't overheat weather sat in traffic, cruising down the motorway or towing the caravan The autobox works as it should and is super smooth. Fully loaded even has cruise.

My foreman at work loves them big Volvo barges! Always had petrol ones though.

Great cars though, will go on forever if looked after. Can't help with the sale, but it looks crackin'!

nothing at all, I just dont like diesel, more so the older ones.

they really do wear well, old volvos just have that solid feel, its such shame that many people will be put off by the mileage, even though there will be loads of life left in it yet.  Has that been converted to diesel? it looks like its badged as a petrol - shouldn't have the cataliser badge, and should have turbodiesel in script under 760 GLE

either that, or the tail gate has been changed at some point...

Yes I am a bit TBH. It's just all the bearings, locks, bolts seized, windows, electrics that are an issue on high-milers, especially 21 year old ones!

If the price was adjusted, it would be a bit more attractive, but I'm sure it would sell on eBay all day at that price though..

its a late 760 (phase 3), but they do look incredibly similar, you'd be very hard pushed to tell the difference at a glance. the 960 came out in '91

I am a closet volvo fan... I've even owned one..

they look like 9 series tail lights too, so perhaps its been doinked in the rear at some point?

A previous owner put a load of 960 bits on it, IE Wheels, doorcards, glass sunroof, Centre arm rest with cup holders, outside temp, the list goes on.

Hence he also put 960 badges on it, I'd rather it said diesel as we all know real engines don't have spark plugs

Everything works apart from the A/C, the drivers seat needs to be fiddled with to move back and forward all other movements work, other than that everything works.

She's cheap enough, I was offered a K reg Audi 100 TDI in a swap the other day and he is asking £1,200 the Audi was 100% in all ways except for the paint, it was suffering from lacquer peel hence I wasn't that bothered.
