General Banter / Still got the old Gal.
« on: August 19, 2014, 03:58:26 pm »
Even though she has been for sale for nearly a year now

Still maintained regardless of cost, new Delco battery fitted last month, engine oil and filter changed today, along with the air filter and a brake fluid change

Currently has 12 months mot, 11 months tax, only 21,613 very careful nearly all dry miles from one fastidious owner.

Also quite literately a garden shed full of spares, brake pads, plugs, filters, gaskets, all fluids, spare set of door mirrors, front discs, spare radio, electric aerial, brake vacuum, prop shaft, seat belts, front and rear lights, instrument cluster, ODB2 reader and fault code reset, full set of official GM Workshop Service manuals, dozens of other parts I have forgotten about.

It also has the best vehicle history files you will ever find, including factory build sheet, weekly mileage log from new, fuel consumption log, photographic record of all maintenance work and receipts for every item ever purchased, currently totally is £46,881

In the next couple of weeks she is going into the Pistonheads classified ads

General Banter / MOT Nightmare.
« on: July 24, 2014, 07:44:39 pm »
Took the old Gal for an MOT on Monday, she had covered 629 miles in the last 12 months
I have used the same Garage for ten years now, although they failed Jamie's Camaro for corrosion, which after following his rebuild thread could be classed as an understatement

Now as usual I changed the red american spec rear lights to the euro spec orange rear lights (here is a picture from years ago)

So I leave it with them all day and I get a phone call, need to talk to you about you car ???

Do you have any evidence to support the mileage, yes thanks more evidence than just about any other car on the road ! Why ???
Well if we enter a low mileage into the DOT computer system now, it has to be justified WTF !
It seems that the previous 10 MOT's don't count anyone

We also have a major problem with your number plates ? So despite it passing numerious previous MOT's, they now pick up the spacing
The regisitration legally is FBZ 28, however it has always been spaced FB Z28 for obvious reasons.
So not wanting to get into a pissing match, I said no problem I have a spare set of plates (lying) I can come down and change them. It's not the only problem he said ?
The letters are not the same size ?  Now this number plate has been on the car 9 years I think (years old picture)

He say's that the "Z" is bigger than the other letters ? I get down on my knees and honestly tell him, I can't see any difference ??????
He says well I have measured them all and the "Z" is 1.2mm bigger WFT
So I say well what is legal allowance, he say's there isn't one and shows me the computer screen which states "All the numbers and letters must be the same height".
We then move onto the front number plate, illegal size, illegal letters, illegal spacing, again passed since fitting :

So I say do you appreciate that the car was made in US where a front number plate would not be fitted and with the air intakes it is impossible to fit a larger number plate without blocking the flow ?
Basically no

We then move onto the front left light, it looks like the car has been in a major accident !  I can assure that it has never been in an accident
What's the problem ??
The light beam is all wrong, it looks like it's pointing down.
Well it's never be hit and looks fine on the road in the dark, Oh he say's may be the light housing has warped in the sunshine over the last few years ?
What whilst it's parked in a windows less garage under a tight fitting cover unless it was outsdie doing 629 miles over the last 12 months.

I ask him to show me the beam pattern on the alignment m/c, but he say's he hasn't got time due to other bookings.

So the next comments floor me

If you say that you will change the number plates and fix the light, I will pass it

So has the current computerized system really removed all variation
Do you have to verify the mileage

Fair cop on the number plate spacing, but I just don't understand the headlight beam issue, it looks fine on the garage wall from about four meters (i.e matches the left side)

I have been waiting weeks for the Divvy LA to sort my Kawasaki documents out
Made loads of phone calls and kept getting told it's being processed

Yesterday I got this letter in the post ( note the date )  :

I wasn't happy but at least it looked like I will get it eventually the documents

This morning I receive this ( same date ) :

Ruddy hell a tax disc and new MOT, wasn't expecting that

However note mistake on the MOT

It's not like the letters "D" and "P" are anywhere near each other on the keyboard

Bunch of incompetent toe rags

Now it all has to back to the Divvy LA again

General Banter / How fast is fast ?
« on: February 25, 2014, 10:03:02 am »
Generally you would be lucky to get to 100mph on most UK motorways given the congestion, not forgetting the fact that three digit speed carries a mandatory driving ban

Hennessey have just recorded a new fastest road car speed of 270.49mph

Never mind the speed just listen to it wheel spin at 130mph, change up to 4th gear at 200mph and then 5th gear at 235mph - it's just insane

« on: February 01, 2014, 09:17:39 pm »
After Friday nights heavy rain Saturday was drying out nicely, however it was forecast to rain again tonight
However the current weather forecast now says dry through the night and a sunny Sunday morning 6c with moderate winds

If it drys out enough the Camaro will get her first run of 2014, don't waste this chance because the next month is still forecast as very wet

Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / Camaro Z28 for sale.
« on: December 07, 2013, 09:43:13 am »
Every year I consider selling my Camaro because it just doesn't get used

However being mortgage free and now cash rich, I have the opportunity to put something else in the garage

The question is how much is it worth ?????

2000 model year Camaro Z28 - 5.7 V8 Auto.

Mileage 21,083 miles - One owner.

Taxed end of June 2014, MOT'd till Sept 2014.

Immaculate original condition, maintained regardless of cost using genuine GM parts.

It also has the BEST vehicle history files you will ever find !

Including from new weekly mileage sheets, photographic service records, every single receipt including purchase invoice, fuel consumption records, original sales brochures and price lists, total expenditure log now reading £45,956 , full GM service manuals, OBDII reader, etc , etc.

Personalized registration FB Z28 valued at £2k.

I would really like to sell her to someone who is going to look after her, but at the end of the day cash is cash !

So what do you think it's worth and where would be the best place to sell her

Probably not the best time of year either, unless someone wants a really good Christmas present ?

General Banter / Admin HELP please ?
« on: December 05, 2013, 08:35:22 am »
When ever I try to use the forum Youtube button it doesn't work

Using the standard Youtube "share" link pasted into the forum Youtube link I get :

[youtube=http://youtu.be/S1HX8Iq-56s]

Where as it should be with [ ] to make it work

youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1HX8Iq-56s

With the brackets [ ] you get this :

Therefore with my limited knowledge and computer skills, surely the forum Youtube button should default to :

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=]

Where you can just paste the end of the video number in after the = ?????????

Yep the old Gal will be officially 13 years old tomorrow, she was born on Tuesday 16th November 1999

Some pictures taken this morning outside the Bunsfield Fuel Depot which seemed a little ironic :

Racking up the Kilometers now, that's 33,898km now or 21,068 miles

Here's to another 13 years
