Well had the Model T out for three hours this morning
Dropped in on Jamie and gave his kids a ride around who seemed concerned that they aren't any seatbelts
I told them to be more worried about not having any brakes

Damn there is a 05:30am on New Years Day !

Had a serious grinding issue yesterday with the right hand off side drive shaft, got the hub off yesterday and their is excessive end float, allowing the hub to grinding on the shaft housing.

Made a fibre spacer last night and am going to fit now, according to the model T forum that should solve the issue for a few hundred miles, but it's caused by excessive wear in the shaft woodruff key

This means that sooner rather than later the woodruff key will shear leaving me with no power and no parking brake

So I'll be as gentle with the 98 year old Gal as possible, but seeing as the clutch is either on or off it's Stony Stratford or bust

Well what an awesome day, the Model T made it there and back without a problem. Yeah she spat out some oil and a little coolant and the starter motor packed in before I even left the house, but at least it has a starting handle

Yes it was cold, wet and slow and I held lots of people up, but they all smiled and waved, it's that kind of car

Pictures here :

Would I do it again ?  In a heartbeat

Illegal for it to travel on a motorway because it can't maintain the minimum speed of 40mph :walk:

I also seemed to be the only vintage car using the A5 with an orange flashing beacon, apart from the safety aspect so drivers can see a slow moving vehicle as they bare down on you at 70mph plus, again it's a legal requirement on dual carriageways posted at 40mph and above

Mind you I couldn't actually see jack on the way home because of the dirty spray from the vehicles passing me

Just worked out yesterdays fuel consumption

16.55mpg

Now one might think that with the six gallon tank that would give me a range of 99 miles ?

The answer is YES and NO !

YES if the ground is flat, but NO if you want to drive up hills because the tanks needs to be at least half full

Remember this is a car where less is more, i.e no fuel pump, no oil pump, no water pump, no oil filter, no air filter and no distributor
