Basically this power supply hasn't fixed the crashing problem...

suppose the next step is the GFX card (Both and ) that is unless anyone else has any ideas...

mine for example is...
2.40 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo
I would need to look in the bios for the multiplier though i think mine is 9 x 266 or something

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5N-E SLI 1.XX
Bus Clock: 266 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS P5N-E SLI ACPI BIOS Revision 0202 11/22/2006

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS [Display adapter]

I thought it told you mem and ram timings ( you'll have to go thru bios for timings)

Slot 'DIMM_A1' has 1024 MB
Slot 'DIMM_A2' has 1024 MB
Slot 'DIMM_B1' has 1024 MB
Slot 'DIMM_B2' has 1024 MB

1 x HD via s-ata

just a thought, is there an option either in the bios or on the gfx control panel to disable fastwrites?

It may be another clutching at straws effort ( but doesnt cost anything)
Also, have you been monitoring the temps on the gfx card?
it could be you got one with an ill fitted heatsink/fan

I think I may have already had that installed as I had the file in my downloads folder already... I've re-run the installer anyway so will test it later on with BF2142.

the monitor part of this program will let you monitor the temps ( i think you have to click on the expand type box to see it though)

or if you have that Everest program, there are some temps that appear on the taskbar, and one of them relates to the gfx card

I also found this while trolling around ( yes trolling, not trawling )

"I'll be playing a game (to be specific: Battlefield 2, WoW, Civilization4) and it will will randomly crash to desktop...

In Battlefield it happens randomly, unless I'm the server, then it crashed right before I get into my game.

In Civiliziation it usually happens at a specifc save and a specific time... If I load the quicksave right before the point where it crashed, it crashes at that point again, sometimes a bit before though.

My computer from time to time will have the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) showing the "nv_disp.dll" in it... so that's why I'm posting here in nVidia forum

Anyone know about why or something I can do to fix this?

No errors show up by the way."

" My Solution = removed Audigy 2 ZS...
Eeew the on-board sounds bad... it hisses and all, but it's the only way it runs :(  "

I had this and it was BF2142 that caused it. It was the GFX going south. I bought an Extreme Edition 7600GT and that sorted it. Not had a problem since.

except you still play bf2142

I tried playing a late stage beta of bf2142, and really couldn't get into it, and the fact it felt like it should have been simply a £5 mod for bf2 made me like it even less

you won't regret it, its much less complicated ( plus you can come and own us on the mkb server)
you would have no problems picking it up quickly, as its virtually the same game, with different skins

Losty,

we may have a diagnosis...

As i said on the other thread last night, I played BF2142 for 2 goes of about 5 - 10mins last night before the game crashed to desktop...  I took the side of the case off & it lasted about 1 1/4 Hours before crashing completely & rebooting... is it just possible that the GPU is overheating?

This could however be completely random, i'm going to test it again this evening.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Hmm could well be there too much heat in the case being generated - as you say test again see what happens, if so add more fans!!!
