All electrics / gas work fine.
New Leisure battery 12-18 months ago
2 New tyres May 2010 - less than 300 miles done since then
New Spare wheel - never been used since purchased!
Mains powered flat panel speakers & Sub fitted to caravan with a normal 3.5mm headphone jack connector (plugs into MP3 player, CD Player etc)
Large front storage compartment.
Lots of internal storage (1 x big cupboard for clothes, lots of other smaller high level cupboards as well as underneath all the seating)
Tows very well.
Has got a owners handbook with it.

Door has scratch on lower inside area.

Interior carpets / walls / ceiling all OK except 1 small ripple in rear area - no known leaks though
Interior wood panels / cupboards / doors have a problem where the varnish / wood stain is peeling off, therefore panels look odd, doesn't cause any use problems, but looks strange and peels off easily!
Window by the cooker / sink has got a star crack in it , doesn't let water in but needs repairing or replacing - it is the Outer plastic pane that's cracked - thankfully being double glazed, the interior pane is fine so is still sealed (no wind / water can get in)

Please feel free to come and take a look - I've been honest and accurate in my description as don't want to waste anyone's time.

Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / 1996 Chevrolet Astro Van for Sale
« on: March 10, 2011, 01:10:26 pm »
1996 Chevrolet Astro (LWB) Van

I’m selling my Chevy Astro van as it is just not being used now and is just sat on my driveway taking up space and hasn’t been properly used in a couple of months now – been used for short journeys around town to keep it running but that’s it.

The van is a good, honest van - the interior is very good, clean and tidy, the mechanicals are all OK and work but the main thing is the exterior / body of the van – it’s a little scuffed and battle scarred, but it all adds to the character of the van!

There are lots of high resolution, detailed photos on my website here -> http://www.yanksrule.co.uk/astrosale
(Please note the pictures were taken just after washing it hence the drops / wet patches around the van!)

General Information
91,162 miles
MOT: 18th April 2011
Tax: 30st April 2011
4.3 V6 Vortech engine
Automatic
8 Seat’s
Manual Mirrors and seats
Electric windows (new motor fitted to driver’s side mid 2010)
Central locking
Driver & passenger airbags

Good points
New carpet in mid 2010 by previous owner so is in very good condition
All 8 seats are in good condition, no rips / tears / marks etc
2 X rear bench seats (3 on each) are removable so can have a combination of 2, 5 or 8 seats with varying load space (once seats removed you can carry full size sheet’s of plasterboard in the back!)
Both front seats have armrest’s both sides
4 X Original headrest travel tray’s – has got cup holder, tray and mirror in each – goes around the back of the headrest in front of you
Tinted windows (apart from Front windshield, Driver & passenger door)
Fitted GM/Chevy rubber floor mats in the front & rear
Kenwood face-off single slot CD Player / Radio
New Front & Rear speakers (the original ones were blown)
Original Cargo Net & Tools / Jack in rear cubby hole
Towbar with single electrics
Recent service items:
  New Platinum spark plugs
  New HT Leads
  New Coil pack
  New rotor arm
  New distributor cap
  New Oil & Filter
  New Gearbox oil & filter
  New air filter
Comes with a brand new, still in box, set of Front Brake pads
Has got the original Handbook and quite a bit of paper work / receipts with it.
Original 5 spoke wheels.
New front door locks fitted end 2010
Front & Rear air conditioning (works OK but could do with a top-up of gas)
Comes with original ‘child’ seatbelt adapters for the rear seats
Recent battery (round terminal with adapters to flat connectors)
Spare “long” front number plate (no idea why !!)

Bad points
Body work is rather ‘worn’
  Front bumper, both corners scuffed
  Drivers door scratched
Drivers side rear wheel arch scratched and dented
Drivers side mirror casing cracked and a piece is missing (mirror itself is OK though)
Drivers side rear area near lights scratched
Passenger side sliding door dented at bottom and scratched
Passenger side rear wheel arch scratched and dented at bottom near sill
Passenger side mirror casing scratched (mirror itself is OK though)
Passenger side rear area near lights scratched
Rear doors have scratches and the right/passenger side one has an odd, vertical dent
The wheels could do with refurbishing as the chrome is peeling and the wheels are rusted.
Both door card armrests have the usual issue where elbows have worn away & cracked the material / padding
Missing the plastic cover to the air conditioner unit in the rear luggage area
The rear oval tweeter type speakers need replacing still (the main ones have already been done)
Reflector on passenger door needs re-sticking onto the door (currently in the passenger door pocket)

Any questions then let me know - asking £1,700

General Banter / New Daily Hack, FAO Mondeo Peeps - q's inside
« on: November 28, 2010, 09:36:04 pm »
Well deicded the little subaru i had was, well too small(!) it was making my back/shoulders ache, so just flogged that today to the mother in law, so needed to get a daily hack for the MK -> Hemel daily run So picked this lil mondy off ebay tonight:

Not a bad car at all, 2.0L 16v, 1997 with 96k on the clock, automatic (so vicky can drive it as well), fairly clean and tidy - few scratches on the buimpers but no major issue, interior is really clean although needs febreezing (smokers car syndrome), comes with 4 months tax and 8 month MOT!

Cost me 360 quid so not bad

Q's for the mondy lot out there (im talking CP here lol) - what are the main thingst o watch / check for, also what service interval is the CAM belt due (as got no history with it), anything to check that could cause issues.....

cheers

Well 'twas fun while it lasted, been there nearly 12 months now but me contract at oxford uni is up at the end of the 1st week in October, and won't be extended (thats when the budget / money runs out and there will not be any more avail - we been categorically told this from a very high level ) so time to find another job (oh joy)

Well those of you at the meet yesterday (and Phil / Dean) may well heard me talking about a crappy alarm installl / removal on the 'Stro...well after ripping it out yesterday, did some googling today...

Its a Silencer 5900P alarm system, well most of it - there should be a LED / Key insert module as well - i looked at the bottom of the dash fascia panel - 2 nice little holes where it would have been fitted - so it defo had an alarm and was majorly butchered when ripped out!

So far so good today - didn't cut out or antyhing, but i'll hold off saying fixed until a week or so...give it chance!!

(Cheers to phil & dean for advice / thoughts on sat!)
