Think this counts as a mini project now!!
Seeing as the tires on the BBQ are at least 10 years old and it's stood for almost 3 maybe 4 years now, and i'm intending on using it in May, thought today would be a good day (as weather was nice) to sort getting the wheels off to get new rubber on them, plus give the brakes and over-hall (as they never been brilliant and a bit squirelly when braking).
Took the wheels off without too much trouble, so the BBQ now sits like this:
Gave the underside a check over and it's held up really well, springs and chassis look all good underneath:
Once i'd got the wheels off, took the drum's off and the 'passenger' / left side didn't look too bad:
Shame can't say the same for the 'driver' / right side.....explains why the brakes wern't working as well this side:
Checked online and the bearings are nice and cheap and easy to get (as they are a bit graunching and knackered), need to just track down what the correct oil seal is as need new one's of them as well - the sizes online don't seem to link up with what the one i've got is.....
Going to try this week to track down a new set of shoes & drums and hope they are still available ( as the drum on the left is totally contaminated and has to be replaced!) - know of one place in MK that might do it (intertruck?)
So Shopping list to get it back on it's wheels:
Inner & Out Bearings
Inner Oil Seals (outers are just a flat washer)
Shoes
Drums
Tires
Will then put it back together then sort the wiring as needs looking at as lights not working correctly
