Took my car for a longer run than the usual 2 mile commute today, and noticed that the temp was rising higher than normal (even on longer runs)
With the engine running, I squeezed the top hose and found that there was no pressure.
I stopped the engine, and left it for a few minutes to cool a little, then took the cap off, expecting to find a low level of coolant. However, the level was up to the cap.
At this point I wondered about the water pump, so with cap off, cranked her up again. At this point the level dropped a few inches and stayed at a consistent level. I topped it up with approx 500ml, replaced the cap and left for a few minutes, but still no pressure.
I figure from this that the pump is OK, but cannot work out why there is no pressure. Is this the sign of a problem, and if so, what should I be checking next?
