I think it is for dual quad manifolds where you want to large carbs and need extra clearance

surely you'd need a bigger one for the rear carb then to keep the tops level with each other as well?

They do straight blocks too . . . .

Don't forget not all Bug-catchers are for Dual-Carb applications, either . . .

i have an article in streetrodder some where, large carbs wont sit side by side so the angle is for tilting them forwards and backwards you need a pair so that the carbs are angled away from eavh other

Cut and pasted from HotRod Magazine guys

Wedge plates are similar to spacers, but as you can see, the profile of a wedge plate tapers. What’s the point? Simple. These spacers are designed to keep carburetor float bowls in the proper perspective when the car accelerates. Moroso claims this plate (with an angle that tilts the carburetor forward 5 degrees) provides the optimum angle during peak acceleration and, consequently, front end lift.
