Is it just because it's fuel . . . . It's just that alot of people seem to run them outside on the bonnet

I certainly wouln't want a fuel pressure gauge in car. Should there be any sort of problem with guage connections you'd get fuel pumped directly into the car.  I have similar feelings about direct feed oil pressure, hence I have an electric one.

thats right, you cant run a mechanical fuel guage in the cockpit of a race car, i have an electronic guage in the poncho.
