To be fair the condition seems in line with the price (imho).

This is why I get frustrated by people who say all 3rd gens are worth less than £2,000 because they've seen a couple for sale etc.

Condition is everything.

If that car had no rust and had passed the MOT I'd have thought it was worth close to 3k but that's just my opinion...

I'd buy that for a grand, but it is a little worn, but what a great, road worthy project or first yank

The door is probably a writeoff but the rest of it is workable.

Having owned an EXTREMELY rotten 3rd gen in the past i'd check the floors & rear arches very very carefully, but if they're alright and you're willing to put some work (or some cash) into fixing the rest of the issues i'd go for it.

BTW, the roof dent / rust repair would probably require a new windscreen to fix it properly.

between

and

and even

and

you can fix up pretty much any 3rd or 4th gen TBH.

When I had her the floors were ok, I had to have the very very front part on the corners done for MOT.

If its still around when I sell my Lincoln I'll have it back

the door wasnt that bad i had both door cards off and the bottoms were clean that was a couple of years ago though

apart from the hood damage and the roof dent (which would pop out) the rest is small bubbles here and there

missing badge's

to me its a useable motor if you want to go to the trouble of tarting it up its a good base to do or alternatively just use it ratty till it isnt worth keeping going

If it can pass an MOT and "IF" it runs OK

there are a couple of items to check.

first of all, that bonnet is very likely a write off, and replacements are expensive new, and very hard to find (without being in just as bad state) used.

check the baulkhead very carefully, there is a seam on it, and rust bubbling there is a major issue, as you have to pull the engine to sort it properly. if allowed to spread it has a very detrimental effect on the rigidity of the body around the steering box, leading to cracking of the mounting holes in both the body and steering box - this is again a very big (huge) job to fix. Listen for a bang or thump through the steering and floor when turning lock to lock standing still

the GFX falling off may just be trim clips, but it may also be that the GFX have trapped water (common) and caused the sills to rust away where the clips are. this happens a LOT!!

the roof rust is a worry, there are many many water traps in the sail panel area (exactly where water likes to drain) by the time the floors appear rusty in this area its again likely too late, as there will be major corrosion if the internal structure.

the screen will need to come out to sort the screen surround, it will be broken in the process (well, 99.99999% of the time) so is again a pricey repair. budget at least £300

to repair the rust on that car, i'd expect to have to pay well over £1000 without paint, or more like £500 if you can find a decent used bonnet... but i bet you cant. (believe me, i tried)

panel availability isn't an issue.. shipping a 6 foot long panel weighing 150lbs from the states is!

Going to  stick my neck out and say i would love that car .

My 87 trans am was scruffy as feck , but i loved it more than i love the torino .

you never had to worry about where you left it , it went sideways with the best of them and you never ever had to waste four hours of your day polishing the turd

what's your friend looking for it steve ?

Make sure it's...

got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty-cubic-inch plant. Cop springs. Cop shocks. Cop suspension. Cop tires. It was a model made before catalytic converters, so it runs on regular gas.

Oh, and...

Fix the cigarette lighter.
