not yank but all this sucks
found a large cheap barn just outside MK to hire, decided to take ze german skum VW van there today. It has no engine which is the reason for wanting to work on it in a dry barn.
So need a towing A frame and a car with tow bar, got both sorted out yesterday, tow bar and a van from a mate and A frame from HSS hire
phoned HSS hire this morning to get the A frame and they said theres a 2 week wait for one as theres only a few doing the rounds in the entire company!! Why advertise something you dont have.
So now i need a trailer, found a guy cheapish (as far as car trailer hire goes) £40 for the day in leighton buzzard, sweet so phone mate and explain but he now tells me that he can only have the van with tow bar until 12 and so wouldnt of got from LB to bletchley to pick my VW up then to barn then back to LB to drop trailer off.
Sh*t.. at this point i took a day off to get this sorted today and was £40 + £10 petrol minus, so was in the 'ill do it whatever' frame of mind. Then i rememeber my sister had just brought a Landy Freelander.. phone her and YES it has a towbar!! so quick swap her landy for my escort and i have a towbar! so i went to pick up the trailer, got it all fine, back to mine to load the van up, had to spend an hour getting everything ready, start whinching it on and the wheels are too WIDE!!! FFS!!!
Right no worries, take trailer back and ask the guy to use his 16' trailer which was wider that he kindly let me do.
Cool, so now driving back to mine through LB main road and the Landys hydrallic clutch breaks!!!!! So sitting there with my sisters new car and a 16' hire trailer from a guy I messed about in the rain causing a small traffic problem.
Phoned RAC, said yup no worries.. be there ASAP, they couldnt do much with it so was just going to tow the landy back.. but wait theres a 16' trailer on the back still
so had to go through loads of red tape to get them to take the trailer back about 800 meters to the hire place so i could be towed back to MK in the landy on its own. If i didnt get the trailer off it would of ment another 2 hour wait for a flatbed.
So yeah loads of worse problems about but doesnt it just piss you off when you are trying so hard to do something and EVERYTHING gets in the way and goes wrong.
