Question - Plug Leads
« on: November 09, 2005, 05:53:24 pm »
Doing my usual thing of browsing for bits I don't really need... Whats the advantage of / does it make any difference having Plug leads this big??

http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=TAY-98051+&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp

10.4mm compared to like 8mm ones...

No need to go silly, Mate.

In reality (the real world ) you'll be fine with a £20 set from Cars Spares.

Really.

Are you saying that you shouldn't get stuff because it looks good, but is overkill?

That's part of the fun

Where's the sexy woman in red gone?

Bring her back now - we don't want heart shaped grenades.

When on a budget buy what you NEED first.  I Would have thought 1/2" thick H/T Leads were near the bottom of the list TBH.

Fancied a change.  She was getting tired.

Thought that'd be the reason.

Haven't had the time to sort one out.  I can't find my old 'wheel' one that I used elsewhere.

That's one of the more enjoyable parts of the hobby, especially when you have no money.

It is indeed, window shopping & thinking that'd be cool, that'd look good, that'd be nice!
Especially with the Small Block Chevy, there's just so many bits!

8mm leads will do nicely.  not sure about those, remember, at 10.4mm, they wont go in the cable guides, and may be a bitch to route on a thirdgen, where space is eally tight around that area..

my recomendation is crane fire wires, not very bling, but good.. if you want pretty colours, perhaps taylor leads might be more suitable?

Re: pretty colours, Black leads will do me nicely... contrary to what is sat on my cupboard (red leads) I'm not planing on there being too much bright red under my bonnet when the whole plan comes together that opinion might change tho... but we shall see

Black leads are best IMHO.  They are a pain and easily make the engine bay look untidy. I would leave them off if I could.
