Plea for Assistance
« on: December 14, 2006, 10:42:59 am »
OK, my stuff to tune-up the 'maro has just turned up... If I can get the guv’s permission to use the workshop at Racelogic over the weekend (Heated, Lighted, Flat, and with cooking and a tea/coffee facilities on hand) who fancies giving me a hand…

Meals would of course be on me…  I need to get the work to be done sorted ASAP as I have a plan in the midst which needs it running right…

The following jobs are to be done:

Oil & filter change
Air filter change
Trans cooler to be fitted, fluid and filter to be changed
Braded brake lines and complete fluid change
Spark plug change
Thermostat change (this may well not happen)
Fuel filter change

And of course a free raffle for the Summit Racing cap that came with the stuff (raffle participation is no compulsory)

Any takers guys?

Probably, there is a good jack and stands, but a lot of the tools have been nabed.... a good set of spanners and sockets (imp & metric) wouldn't go a miss, plus anthing else assosiated with the jobs to do...

If you can get to the barn your welcome to crash at my pad sat night if you dont get finished. I can grab a 47kg propane bottle from work so the barn would be warm

ok, well in which case i cant make it. Better grab a load of rag as all the jobs your gonna do will  ake a masive mess with a pretty high risk of oil and brake fluid spillage.

It's very worthwhile actually listing the exact tools you need.

If you just take a random selection you can gaurantee you'll forget something . . . . and Buckingham is a long way to travel from for tools . . . .

Things like sump-plug sockets/allen keys are a favourite for getting forgotten as they're often an uncommon size . . . .

Yep, and me and Martyn will be using it on Sunday, so that puts us out of the equation too I'm afraid.

Oil & filter change = 15 minutes.
Air filter change =  5 minutes.
Trans cooler to be fitted, fluid and filter to be changed = 4 hours.
Braded brake lines and complete fluid change = 3 hours.
Spark plug change = How many days have you got ?
Thermostat change (this may well not happen) = 1 hour.
Fuel filter change = 45 minutes.

My best guess is 9 hours ( excluding the plugs ) if everything goes OK , I'm not trying to put you off just being realistic with the timings

That's more optimistic than I was thinking to be fair...

Part of the reason I want to do it at work though... Heated & lighted means less fatigue on the workforce, and a longer working day. Plus Tesco is about 3mins walk away for all their dietry needs....

Have got the ok to use the workshop, so all systems go…

Graeme, if I make a comprehensive list of tools, can I borrow them please?

Also, if you wanted then I could help you transport the engine crane over to Buckingham and Jamie could collect from there…

Looks like Shifty is going to be lending a hand too…

Cool by me, Debs will be happier as it will mean a shorter round trip (We're taking Alex to CMK to see the big display outside John Lewis.)
