I had a play with one this weekend.

Fabulous, *much* better than I expected.

The screen is amazing and some of the magazines are awesome being interactive etc.

My friends had one for a couple of weeks, absolutely stunning.

If it's a clear night, download Sky Walk (something like that) fantastic App for looking at the night sky.

+1 on the magazines, I can see it becoming a popular way of getting your favourite mags.

My favourite (print) magazine is Wired and being a futuristic tech type of magazine they have taken full advantage of the interactive nature of the thing when writing articles for it.
Turning the pages in books is even slick, the page doesn't just curl one way, you can drag it around all over the place.

Saw Macworld I think it is on there. The photo's become interactive and can be displayed as a photo gallery or full screen. You can also hit a button and it becomes all text so to make it easier reading.

it is VERY cool.... im struggling to justify one to myself at the moment... Gemma could really do with a laptop bu this wont quite fit the bill for what she needs... for leisure only its perfect, but she actually needs to work on it... so hopefully i can swing a MBP of some spec, or even a normal McBook !

Not wishing to question the almightly Mac, but can you still use it as a "normal" computer ?

i.e.  Plug a keyboard and mouse in ????

You can plug in a keyboard, but you don't need a mouse as it's touch screen.

I sometime use Goggle Sky Map on my phone.
Works in conjunction with the GPS and Digital Compass.
Great for searching for a particular celestial body or just finding out the name of what your looking at.

I would like one, but am A I wrong in thinking you can't multi-task as I like to have i-Tunes, Chrome, sometimes word etc all open at the same time?

I don't believe it run Chrome, it has Safari which just like the iPhone, is ample browsing really.

You can't truely multi-task yet, not till OS4 is released, but as with the iPhone and touch, the iPod will play in the background whilst running other apps, unless they're very old in which case it won't and halts playback.

It uses your GPS and Compass as well as accelerometer to tell you what you're looking at, as well as help find constellations and planets. Yes you can look at the sky, but when you have this quite neat little app and are able to point out what appear to be stars and actually find out it's Saturn or Venus, it adds a little more to the viewing.

It's got a few of my friends very interested in astronomy now so I feel it's served it's purpose. Also makes a BBQ at about 2 am on top of Gold Ball a little more interesting when theres sod all else to do in Wycombe
