which got me thinking - to save space, do you still write OSF, NSR etc?
Surprisingly No !
If I replace something I always replace both, the last example being the rear bump stops. I can't really think of anything else that I've replaced that their are two of (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

fuel and bulbs
Fuel -fair enough, a bit much perhaps. However, bulbs are useful to record incase you get the same one blowing, you can remember exactly when you changed it - helps with fault finding.

Every other receipt is kept in chronological order, including MOT's , tax discs and insurance receipts etc.
So, you don't have a summary sheet? (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/shame.gif)
For example, you couldn't tell me when you last changed the wiper blades without flicking through the pages of history? (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/nono.gif)

Of course I do (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/rolleyes.gif)

that's simple - if you change more than one or two bulbs a year you probably have issues...

Tell me about it...
How do you work out why brake lights keep blowing?

Because you haven't changed them to LED's (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

What if it's the same bulb that keeps blowing, but you are too forgetful to remember which one you have already changed - it may just be an earth to that bulb etc.. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/nono.gif)

I'd assume a dodgy earth? (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

I just put an 'X' when something has been done. Save's you having to 'search'..
Fine for the basic service items but what about the multitude of other items (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)
For example from my list, Under bed oil drain box, Brake Nipple Spanner and Zinc Plating Front Brake Discs (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

check the earth points, then look at the light to body seal - damp bulbs will blow much faster.

You guys have way too much time on your hands.
Disregarding the fact that it takes very little extra time, just a degree of organization, the only reason I started such a detailed history was because of some of the cars I didn't buy (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)
Full service history = The odd stamp in a dealers book, may be a 3 yr old MOT and a receipt from Ricks Auto's for £13.02p (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/down.gif)
This is the sort of history that adds real value to a car when or should you decide to sell it (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif)

Exactly. It takes literally seconds to label a receipt, put it in the folder and mark on the summary sheet.
It helps with the value of the car and also helps you maintain it properly. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/mechanic2.gif)
The amount of cars I have looked at recently where they have a few stamps up to 50k, then nothing - so, what, has the car not been serviced for 50k more? However - those people still want top-money for their cars (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/nono.gif) Not from me, no sir. (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/down.gif)

I'd expect them to be much better. better yet would be to fix any leaks..

Impossible Chevrolet have yet to manufacture a light unit that is water tight (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/rtfm.gif)
Indeed the modern ones actually have large drain holes to let the water out again (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/rolleyes.gif)
