although i doubt im gonna be coming out spending less than £50

this also seems to be the problem with sushi... if I spend over £50 on a meal out it'd better have been for 2 people!! and 1 of them being female!

Actualy prices arnt that different from NOBU in london. Maybe £50 was an over estimate depending how hungry i was but i would guess £25-30 would be a more realistic bill for me.

I really do want to go to Nobu just to see if its as good as Vegas and New York

or you could go to the japanese restaraunt in Northampton and eat sushi there! for those that don't eat raw fish it also a tepenyaki restaraunt where they cook everything in front of you - a great show if you haven't seen it before.

I think it sits 10-12 around each cooking area, you actually sit up at the hot plate to eat

Now this sounds cool we'd be up for this

For £30 a person i would expect some complimentary "nosh" and not the kind you can take away in a doggy bag, and for £50 sheets, a lap dance to.

I am up for this by the way just think it's a bit steep for what you get, would probably opt for the tapenyaki.

Sounds good.  £30 for food's O.K . . . £50's a tad steep but for a treat, not that bad.

Once you have eaten in nice restaurants the price seems less important. Its not like you eat at them every month so if a meal is £30-£50 what does it matter.

I have had plenty of bar meals where your paying £15-£20 and you get a crap or small meal.

Most people would think nothing of spending £50 on a friday night by the time you had a few drinks and paid to go to a club, hell even the cinema is gonna be close to £20 with popcorn and a drink

The experience is what its all about - seeing the chef put all the ingredients together to make a meal (the teppenyaki, not the sushi) is fantastic. How they remember what everyone is having is beyond me - he's cooking for 12 at a time usually.

The way they serve the rice usually sorts the men from the boys if you're a bit cackhanded then you better wear something thats washable

Pfft thats a weeks work of petrol that.

I can safely say I have never payed that much for a meal (for one).

Not without claiming it back off the company later anyway

Maybe they didn't like the look of you, cos we were in there nearly 3 1/2 hrs

wasn't bad, nice atmosphere, some of the food was a bit salty, even for me and no real beer (although the michlob(sp?) was quite drinkable.)
on the Plus side there were some really nice dishes and all the olives you could eat though they wern't particualy good either.

Think I only give it 2

ooohhh we should start a local restuarant guide type thread type thingamy.....or not...
