'68 Morris Minor For Sale
« on: July 23, 2009, 08:21:32 pm »
Substantial discount for MKB'ers..

As you know, me and my buddy picked this up a few months ago with the intention of using it as a communal toy but his '63 Beetle and my '68 Bus are still projects and we just cant do the Minor at the same time.. So its a bit wasted at the moment..

Make an offer if you fancy a new toy You might be surprised

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140333258240&viewitem=&salenotsupported

I know we got it for free but we spent £150 on fuel and the trailer getting it back then another £300 on new parts and hours cleaning and un-jamming everything to get it running again.

That said, we would be happy with our cash back and a lil beer money

Just typed this out for someone else so I hope you dont mind if I yet again copy and paste it in for your benifit too..

Hey bud,
It is running - it actually starts on the key - no choke needed! We have driven it up and down our road without a problem and it has been running constantly for a good 15/20 mins while we were getting the temperature up to get the air out after changing the water / antifreeze..

The only thing we havent done is change the brake fluid - but we will throw in the brake fluid for you if you want it £20 quids worth..

Apart from the hole in the boot area of the shell, its pretty dam good really, an old gent used to do all the maintence to it and had replaced the whole floor in 2004 then hammerited / waxoiled it.. But obviously its been sitting since then so its not immacualte underneath but its great for its age - I cant see any major reasons for it to fail an MOT, just perhaps the tyres. But then you never know about braking / bearings / emmissions etc etc.. You know what old cars are like.

I guess you would be able to drive it where-ever, it seems quite a strong engine, box changes okay and pulls, and brakes stop when you stamp on the peddle - its got a disc brake conversion up front from a Ford Sierra I am told, so it stops a little better than normal Minors.

Once MOT'd I dont see why this couldnt be a cool little daily for short journys - which was the idea for us.. Best thing is, TAX EXEMPT! Oh yes..

Youre welcome to come take a look and a drive around the block - its a good laugh.. My number is <removed as requested> and its in Newport Pagnell. Cheers, Craig.

Sammy has expressed an interest (she has always liked them).

At this point I'll add she's never driven an old car before so it would be a case of me seeing it and giving it a general lookie-over (as I'll be the one doing any work on it) and she'll see if she'd be happy with it.

Can you PM me your post code and house number ?

I'd be looking to pop over Sunday ?

When I go to Bovingdon Market there is a magazine man who sells all different car magazines, usually a month out of date @ 3 for £2.50

My choices today were :

Minor Monthly
Octane.
Auto Italia.
American Iron.
Hot Rod.
The Horse - back Street Choppers.
Bike.
Total 911 Porsche.
VW Performance.
EVO.
Baggers & Bobbers.

Anything with an engine is good

Anything that bleeds for more than a week without dying is bad

In fairness I could've sorted that, easily - there is the option to alter the seat as there appears to be a series to tapped holes in a row under the car.

The car was very solid underneath, solid sills, started on the button and ran smooth and quiet.
Engine was responsive with plenty of power for a tiny sub-litre motor.

Steering was lighter than I expected but, alas, a little too heavy for Sammy.

That was the main reason for me recommending she doesn't go for it . . . which was a shame because, as I said to CP, it'd be cool to have that parked on our driveway.

One thing I would recommend doing, CP, is to bleed the brakes.  The capacity is there to stop the car but the pedal is low and i'd guess there's air and probably some damp in the lines.
For the sake of about 30 minutes between you and your mate I reckon you could have that stopping on a dime.
