will probably go to the NSRA supernats instead this year.

Damn good show, that.

Pity about Billing . . . . Whether it be AACUK or AACI who've been putting on the show I've only missed a few over the last 15 years or so.

Never seen weather like this in June before, though.

was there today,
no show field but lots of cars.........

they were parked an all the roadside verges all around the park, and on hardstanding, and around the pub and shops,
was real nice to walk through everywhere and see different cars around every corner,
made a refreshing change from a field full.........
and it was a scorching day too
there was a good atmosphere amongst those who went,

show ground on a flood plain not a good idea really, but its been used for years........

here to the next one, im at goodwood fos next weekend so will probably be wet there too

You can never predict the weather but would hope that in June it'd be O.K . . .

I was tempted to pull the Caddy out and drop in when I woke up to sunshine this morning . . . . .

Alas, a heavy session of drinking and going to bed at 4.30am took it's toll.

It's a real shame when the weather impacts so much hard work that goes into organising an event like that....

That said, having seen some pics, it looks like people worked hard to make the best of it, and fair play to them for that...

Indeed it is a real shame to see all the work go to pot cos of our crappy weather, but it is the one thing we cannot (yet!) control

Indeed fair play to em for going and sticking around, we had personally just had enough of sitting in a lake of water in the van, and getting muddy and wet all the time, and wanted to catch up with our mates - hence we left.

Didn't they used to have a inside show at Doncaster many years ago ?

That was a big place - But only fitted under 100 cars.

Ameri-car a few years back had the same format - all indoors and worked quite well but again - only 100-200 cars.
Albeit some incredible examples.

Billing is a good venue - easily accessible and plenty of room.

Ideal for car shows/rallies and the like . . . unfortunately when the weather's bad, the weather's bad.

There's nothing anyone could do to solve it or prevent it.

And as I said earlier - I've been going to Billing for god knows how many years and this year really was a one-off.

Judging by the pictures it was by far the worst I've seen it in June, ever.

I'm aware that Rocky's comment has been quoted elsewhere but think the response of "You could possibly get off your Ass & give it a go yourself mate." was a tad harsh - especially given that Rocky is a regular and knowledgable contributor to that forum as well.

I think Rocky was referring to shows in general - not necessarily that show and organiser.

Indoor shows do have their place in "the scene" but are rare, it seems, these days.
I remember going with my brother to several when I was a kid but you don't really get them, now.

Possibly down to H&S ?  -  I know having vehicles indoors is a PITA as many venues will have strict rules to adhere to so all cars will need to be pre-entered and checked before they can be displayed.

No where near as convienient as just driving there, paying at the gate and dumping your car anywhere.

It's a shame as the odd indoor show used to help break-up gloomy winters . . . .

Dam it's my fault again

I think you'll find it's mainly down to insurance issues, if you want to put a car in some buildings you have to remove all the fuel and battery
Not exactly handy if you have driven there and want to drive home

yep im quite hapy to blame the h&s bods............
good point though.

probably down to the high costs of indoor venues,
if you have ever seen the charges for the nec you would realise outdoors is probably the only realistic option for big shows,

as for draining the fuel and removing the battery,to go to a show ..........

now that would get the internet whingers moaning................

We looked at displaying in the MK centre  . . .  and that was the case . . . plus something about the fuel cap not being accessible to the public . . . ?

Perhaps they should move to Stoneliegh park the National Agricultural Centre, by Warwick.  They hold the heritage motorsport show and various others there and thats indoors and outside. Lots of hard standing.  Also Closer to me now

All bike shows are undercover we ride the bikes in, also main car shows are held indoors i know this is probably more costly and more hassle but at least its dry.

Saw the quote Roadkill but thanks for the heads up. Would rather it was to my face than bitchin behind a computer screen considering i didnt mean anything by it and it was taken the wrong way.

Aint that the truth....
The logistics of it just for the three motors we had at the NEC last year were a nightmare. Very little to do with the cars themselves, but the paperwork woulda used up a small forest....

Or even one !

In the end you kinda expect hope that in the middle of summer the weather's gonna be kind.

I think indoor shows are best held in reserve for the months of the year when outdoor events are likely to get bad weather.

Wasn't the Doncaster show (indoor) in late autumn ?

I always remember it raining outside and on the way up !

Yeah, the selection of cars was small, but it beat sitting inside moping about the house during the colder months.
