actually getting out of our road (its a slight incline, and actually getting the car to move was a bit fun!) was the only hard part, the rest of the run to bedford was absolutely fine.

roads were almost deserted on the way home, no more than 40mph, but TBH  no less, so i got home less than 5 mins later than usual

you all laughed but.......

today i wouldn't have swapped the 166 for all the corvettes in the world, it was simply stunning how good that car behaved in the snow - traction control ABS climate control heated seats, heated mirrors, selectable softer throttle map (sport or normal) etc etc..

at one point on the way home, i was  following a fairly new range rover, he was slithering where i was finding grip! i've never felt a 2WD car so surefooted and stable in poor conditions! today it was definitely FWD FTW!

Agreed, I wouldn't want to drive an IROC in this weather...


Mind you the Caddy was A1 even on the ungritted roads at 2AM this morning although the traction control and stability system were working overtime according to the screen.
They all laughed when Cadillac went FWD, but as their ad pointed out in 2000, who wants a RWD BMW in the snow/ice?

with proper development, its very hard to tell you're driving FWD these days, until you are going silly speeds, (the sort of speeds you shouldn't be doing on the roads anyway)

The alfa, like the caddy, gets zero torque steer and pretty decent traction, something vauxhall cant seem to manage with the astra!!!

360 deg, four wheel donuts on 3 inches of snow are
....  breathtaking  ...

Well another "girls" day



Got to the gym on my push bike at 05:55am , to find it had closed at 11:00am yesterday until further notice " Due to bad weather  "

All the schools shut again !

Yes the side roads are bad and it was cold at -7c , but if I can make it on a push bike on empty main roads.............................

We may as well just give up

No body here was off yesterday (except the factory who are on short time working) or today and most of the office commute into MK.

The roads are perfectly clear if a little icy but if I can make it in the Mustang without even a twitch....

Can't imagine why anyone in buckinhamshire had any time off all we had was a light dusting

My Polish/Serbian friends were pissing themselves laughing at how Great Britain was brought to a stand still after a tiny bit of snow

It starts at 3am but is forecast to be in Birmingham by 6am, so I can't see us getting that much

Looked like we got quite a lot, and it's still snowing here
Just taken these pics.
When I opened the front door it was amazing just how quiet it is out there, could here the snow falling off some of the hedge at one point

I'll be going into work in about 30 mins, that will be interesting

We got about 3" ( Oh arr Vicar )

Left for the gym at 05:30am and all the hills in Luton were blocked with Lorries, Buses & cars

Got to the gym at 05:55am and the cleaners let me in, turned on all the m/c's and the music system and started my work out
The dam phone kept ringing so when I eventually answered it the Gym Manager told me that the gym was closed due to the snow
So I had to sort all the cleaners out and arranged to "close" the gym at 07:15am ( it just happens to be when I finish my work out ).

Left the gym to go to work and it's complete and utter gridlock, cars just abandoned and hundreds or people walking to the airport dragging big suitcases

Why ????  It's not like any staff are going to get to the airport or any planes are going to fly



Welcome to the UK the only country that stays in bed when the weather is bad
