Dean, here's the e-mail I got from Brad today, no mention of rods or price yet but I sent a mail back and reiterated needing rods and a price. Will keep you posted. Carl

Carl

Have crank, Forging #1469265 Caddy 1959-1962 390 engine.

Give me a day or so, will clean and magnaflux to make sure it is good. No reason to think it is not, only to be on the safe side.

Crank has ever so slight scratches, econo o'haul would polish, However for a first class engine we would regrind it

Be in touch soon,

Brad

Yeah, I agree. If the scratches are that light a regrind to .010 under won't hurt a thing.

Here it is Dean....

Carl,

Here is what we have. Crankshaft "mag's" good, would suggest regrinding , even though a polish 'may' be fine. We have 8 rods and caps, bolts removed. One rod has the start of polishing but not finished. Seven rods are untouched, all have been maged, Only have 12 of the rod bolts, 4 lost. These parts are from an older house project that never got finished.

Figuring about 80 +/- pounds shipped to zip 29906 we would like to have $400.00 total.

Brad

His price isn't bad, the kicker though is it will cost almost that much to ship it from me to you! If it is under 70lbs I can ship USPS for about $325. It would be about $375 via UPS or Fedex.

apparently its old skool it also makes the rod stronger by removing any surface cracks after shot peening

$400.00 total.

Is that "All in" ie parts and shipping to yours ?

I need to check some details regarding the rods (sizes) but the crank sounds perfect.

Fek.  It never looks good in dollars.

(Nor much better in Sterling)

O.K, let me do some research re. the rods . . . Pity about the Rod bolts but these should almost certainly be the same as mine . . . .
