Is it wrong that I'm considering extending the garage again ?

The main thing that stopped me before is the pond that lies just beyond the end of it but I've been having issues with it and am considering losing it . . .

Yeah, that'd work, too.  Would be more expensive, though.

LOL no it's not a surprise - you just want to get 2 cars and a abike in there with a "man cave" as well, might as well just go whole hog and go to the back fence !!!!

Thought you were going to stick a shed there, or is this in place of said shed

We are currently looking to buy a house, but finding one with room to build a garage is not easy.

After looking at a few houses with 'a garage', I quickly realised that the standard single garage is just a glorified cupboard and if I wanted any space to be able to work on vehicles, I would have to build a garage.

I am sure I would end up doing something similar to what you are doing here.

If you look back at page 1 of this thread you'll see my first "lean-to" extension.  That was built out of 6' x 6' fence panels (about £15 each) and 3"x3" posts (about £10 each).  The roof was 3"x2" timber with a plastic sheeting.

The whole thing cost a few hundred to make and lasted fine until I "upgraded".

Basically.  If you're really stuck, you can make something very useable for change of £500 - less if you use secondhand bits.

LOL.

I'm also looking at this :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121123560313

or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271171223842?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

2 birds, 1 stone.

It's damn close on the width, runway's too short and I'd need to modify the floor . . .

Not sure how much work you could get done inside a garage with one of those installed.

Nice though!

Are you considering the four post lift for working under or just to make it easier for storage?

What about Baz's Dunlop lift? That looks proper smart!

Yeah Baz's lift is proper smart, especially tiled in like that, Very Chic

I wouldn't lift the Camaro on it though, not without very sturdy Subframe connectors, but I guess the Viper is a bit more engineered in that area so it's fine.

Also because of changes to the car Dean's Camaro now has a Balance pivot point that is literally about 6" behind the front wheels (Not the arches, the actual wheels), if that, so to use a mid-lift system like that would require a BIG bag of sand in the boot to make the car stable.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

I wouldn't put the Cadillac on the ramp, I'd put the Camaro on the ramp and park the Cadillac underneath.

Extra parking space AND access for doing servicing.

Baz's garage and ramps look crap - he should be ashamed of it and just sign the whole lot over to me to ensure no one ever sees it again.

Please.

I'm putting the 4-post lift on the back burner for now (simply because I have a storage space for an extra car at the moment, anyway) . . .

However, in order to accommodate future projects ( ) I do need more space . . . .

I have considered extending the existing garage again but like it how it is and if I did lengthen it again, they'd be nothing stopping me but the back fence (and that another 25-odd feet away !)

Note at this point that the limiting factor previously was the pond - which I've now decided to remove (long story).

So I'm going to be building a shed . . or two.   Or maybe even three but probably just two.

The plan is to build a small one to act as a true shed . . ie. to store the BBQ, gardening tools and Jensen's outdoor toys . . .

The other shed (workshop) will be much larger, will have a workbench and will act as an over-spill for larger tools (jacks, vice, axle stands, power tools etc . . )

This will clear some room in the main garage so I can use the space better and also give me an area (in the new workshop) to do heavier and dirtier work.

I was intending to be moving house around this time but, providing I can eventually achieve storage for 5 cars am happy to stay put another 5-7 years or so, so expansion to suit makes sense.

Actually one.

I had a measure-up and the "little one" won't work where I want it so plans are already under way to build a 1.4m x 3.85m shed/workshop.

The old pond is drained and the fish re-homed.  De-construction of that area has begun in order to clear the necessary room.

It'll be a fairly rapid build-plan as I need want it built so I can start gathering parts ahead of starting the Cadillac next year.

ya can never have to much shed space...

im just part way thru a workshop built in the huge carport,
part of it was just standing empty ...

dug out 5 inches all over,
put down a full size membrane, which goes up the walls
then built a floor using pallets and chipboard sealed on both sides, used 3 hardwood doors across the front,

and i also have a large pair of cedar doors for the garage side..

heres a quick couple of pics of the work in progress,

Not much meat left at the top left hand side of the left door, Art !

Also, 'LOL' at your Dog taking a p!ss at the exact moment you took the pic.

Good stuff.  Can never have too much space.

You'd have even more space If I took the Dart of yer hands.
