Diesels don't have spark plugs, they rely purely on compression and heat to provide the combustion. (hence glow plugs on start up to provide the initial heat)

Dieselling in petrol engines, it's the same principle, there's no spark, but the heat and compression allow the engine to continue firing.

Really!
well you learn something new every day.  Is that why they can run out of control?  (My brother said to me that Tank Engines can do this...)

It can also be caused by carbon build up in the combustion chamber. If you engine is in a bad state of tune, or constantly run at slow speeds carbon can build up and create hot spots that will cause runon, or dieseling.

This can happen on gasoline engines, too. Cretes the 007 smoke screen.

Yeah, I had that in one of my old motors . . . . A good dose of ReDex cured that.

WTF!!!!

Yup Ford have paid the film makers 14million to have the £22,000 mondeo used in the film, he will also drive a new aston, but I think the main car is going to be the ford

In the same article I read at Lunch it said that Daniel Craig (Bond) Cannot drive Manual cars so they had to customise the performance Hatchback to be automatic, he got sunburnt during filming, doesn;t like guns, speedboats make him queesy & he lost 2 teeth in a fight scene...  Not very Bond-like is it!!!

I think the mondeo will suit him, he looks like a Salesman more than a secret agent

Doesn't happen near as much as diesels. They have probably improved turbo technology since the early 80s. I remember seeing the early Dodge 2.2 turbos driving down the road followed closely by a cloud.

Sean Connery is my personal favorite. Roger Moore is second.

Sean Connery is No.1, definately - but would look a bit out of place as Bond, now me thinks.

Brosnan would be Second.

Moore has an Irritating look to him . . a smarmy (dare I say it) overly English manner.
