They got it floated again today and towed it out to a safe zone to monitor it.

When I was diving I dived the Zenobia just outside Larnaca harbour in Cyprus. Similar sort of size, perhaps a bit smaller, but had 3 holds full of articulated lorries, cars and livestock carriers.

That had developed a problem with its automated computerised ballast system - it was still on its maiden journey from Sweden - and started listing like this shortly after leaving Larnaca harbour after being loaded - they managed to get it outside the harbour before it rolled over onto its side and sank in 30-40 meters of water. Diving the holds with 40 ton artics hanging - swaying - above your head on 25 year old axle chains that had been subjected to salt water for the same time is both eerie and slightly terrifying at the same time!

Sitting it on a sandbank would be a more financially sound route if the chance arises!

I suspect its measuring pressure rather than amount. Fluctuation in the pressure would indicate a leak therefore it needs oil. That raises the question of how do you know when you've fed it the right amount of oil? the only way is to drain it, fit a new filter and top up with the recommend amount of oil.

Oil level problems with new (2007+) minis is well covered on the interweb

It only needs one person to pull a burnout leaving an otherwise well run event and the Police will try to stop it; to be fair I've been guilty myself of doing exactly that which is why I stopped attending to take away the temptation

Not to hijack but I've just emailed them about supplying me a 4" cowl hood . . . see what happens.

Dale altered my 4" cowl when we noticed it had no clearance over the carb once the nitrous plate was fitted - I didn't like the end shape but the quality of his work is good

Does anyone have any contact details for HarleyBri? I think he still hangs around in the american car club scene. I had his email at steve shanes funeral but have lost it again.

I finally found a picture he was interested in getting hold of.

I've got two helmets to get rid of. 1 x motorcycle, 1 x race helmet

One is a brand new, unmarked, never used Nitro N500-V in white/blue/red with black vents. size xxl (normal sized head apparently!)  £5 or it goes in the skip

The other is a Simpson Bandit in black

this is my old race helmet and was Snell approved for 2005 so no good for MSA meets but will be fine for RWYB's. Has a mirror visor and clear spare but both are scratched but usable. Comes in Sparco helmet bag

I've got about half a dozen of these to get rid off before we move. All in good working order, perfect for conservatories, garages, workshops etc. £15 each for the bigger ones, £10 for the smaller.

General Banter / Ebuyer - shocking service!
« on: September 10, 2014, 05:55:08 pm »
Got an email from their customer service dept today. Horrified at the standard of service I've had, promised a refund immediately and asked me to give them another chance in the future.  At least they got the apology right albeit too late to keep the business.
