Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / HD axle stands
« on: November 03, 2012, 06:21:42 pm »
Having a bit of a garage clear out

I've got 4 of these - 2 pairs in very good condition, very minor use
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cax-6tbc-6-ton-axle-stands

£65 ono

Heavy duty Bluepoint 2 ton low level workshop jack, good condition. This is proper heavy duty, not your normal Ebay 'heavy duty' that breaks if you step on it. This lifted the F150 with ease

£55

Digging deeper into it tomorrow, can almost see the back wall!

Questions and Queries / Best place for aluminium strip?
« on: October 06, 2012, 05:27:52 pm »
I need 4 lengths of 4-5mm aluminium (or any bright metal that won't corrode)  to finish off my shed, 1200mm x 85-100mm. Can't seem to find anyone local who stocks other than companies who are only interested in selling me lots more than I actually need.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

General Banter / Why is Mozilla...
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:19:02 pm »
..so shite with anything remotely connected to the internet?

Youtube stutters and farts if you close one of the annoying little popups when viewing with Mozilla yet works fine with Chrome. Trying to credit my National Lottery account or several other sites I use for financial transactions is just painful when trying to do it with Mozilla

Probably made by the same wankers who made my samsung Galaxy phone - which is two months old and for sale if anyone wants it, piece of shit mind with a battery life that should be illegal to put into a phone. 2 days tops as long as I only use it as a phone which rather defeats the object of having a smart phone really.

I'm going back to Chrome

General Banter / Phone upgrade time again
« on: May 19, 2012, 12:06:55 pm »
I'm fed up with squinting at my Blandberry's tiny screen so have finally succumbed to accepting I need something bigger.

I don't like the Sony or HTC smart phones so its a choice between the iPhone 4 or the Samsung S2 (S3 is out soon but just has features I won't use)

So consdidered opinions on each please if you will but please, no 'Apple is great so buy the iphone' type comments

Computers and Games / World of Tanks
« on: November 01, 2011, 06:57:23 pm »
Just got addicted to this recently. Online gaming based around tank warfare.

game.worldoftanks.eu

Having the new BT fibre fats broadband helps I suppose

I'm not one for playing computer games usually but this had me hooked within 10 minutes - probably because i've had a fascination with tanks since childhood living just up the road from Bovington Tank Museum in dorset

General Banter / 100mb broadband offer
« on: September 10, 2011, 06:27:36 pm »
I had a letter from BT today inviting me to try out their new 100mb broadband for free until the end of december.

I watched them installing the fibre optic cables outside the house last year

If it turns out to be only 3.4mb I'll be ecstatic - as thats twice as fast as I'm currently getting with Sky Poorband

No information about how much it will cost after december. All Bt would say was they would stitch me up let me know at the end of the trial

He goes by the email of stingrayer@hotmail.com

General Banter / House to rent
« on: July 07, 2011, 01:19:06 pm »
A long shot on here perhaps but if anyone knows of anyone decent who is looking to rent a house in the northampton area I have one available.

Its my sister in laws, its decent sized a 4 bed linked terrace with conservatory in Thorpelands, Northampton. A couple of miles from Billing. Good size lounge, kitchen diner, 2 double bedrooms and 2 singles, family bathroom with shower (no bath)

No garage and tiny rear garden  -  ideal for confirmed cyclist who hates lawns!! There is residents parking just at the rear.

Its just been redecced throughout following a less than perfect tenancy through a local agent.

£595 pcm ono, available long term

Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / 2003 Harley Davidson F150
« on: May 26, 2011, 09:11:21 am »
100th Anniversay Edition. In black with HD gold and white pinstripe, not the black and silver model that also came out that year.

47000 miles with service history. New front discs in May (here but not fitted yet) and new pads all round. MOT until March 2012, tax until the end of June this year.

All the normal extras on this model plus the few options that were available; elec pedals, sliding rear window and sunroof (why do the yanks call it a moonroof??) 6 disc in dash plus additional 10 disc in the rear - bnever used - plus a PS2 mounted between the rear seats with headest screens.

£3000 top of the range VSI LPG system installed last year to make driving it less painful on the wallet than filling it with petrol; although flicking it back onto petrol and pissing off Beemer drivers at the lights is still fun!!

Pictures are on here somewhere but I'll post a link up later.

£14995 but I'll give any MKB member a years road tax incl.

Questions and Queries / Tyres
« on: May 09, 2011, 07:09:08 pm »
OK, where do you get your tyres from?

I need a new set of boots for the merc; 255/35 18's on the rear and 225/40 18's on the front. Its a 320 CLK on 18" AMG rims

I've looked at the Mercedes 'recommended' tyres - conti's - which are staggeringly expensive even for mercedes. I want to keep it safe, I tend not to drive silly nowadays, but by the same token I don't want chinese paper thin rubbers that will shred the first time I accelerate or brake.

Pirellis are too expensive so far; Michelin Pilots are coming up as not bad but I'd like to save a bit more so how do Falken rate? I might be able to find Koumo's for a similar price but where the best place, local or internet?

Oh, I dug out my costco membership and went into their tyre shop. They must have a deal with merc because they were even more expensive!!!

General Banter / Electrickery help needed
« on: April 18, 2011, 06:44:05 pm »
I just had a new cd radio installed in the merc but it needs to be connected up to the ignition so it goes off when the ignition is turned off; at the moment its on a pemanent live so I have to remember to turn it off.

If left to my own devices i'll end up killing the radio/car/myself/something so anyone who knows what they are doing would be very welcome to sort it out for me; tea and bacon sarnies supplied (or coffee and crosissants if you're that way inclined)

Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / Outback gas bbq
« on: April 13, 2011, 05:59:45 pm »
Outback two burner gas bbq. This is old but still works great as do most Outback bbqs. Ignition works. Can be seen working but bring your own burgers, I know you lot

It's clean (not Martyn clean but you can cook on it) will probably need new coals this year but comes with half a bottle of gas which saves you forking out a deposit for a new bottle. I'll give the woodwork a clean up over the weekend and apply a coat of stain.

Its on a two wheeled trolley so easy to move, a bit of storage undferneath, and an Outback canvas cover that is waterproof but has seen better days.

£35 inc bottle

I have a charcoal version of the same bbq if anyone wants it, £20, same as above but in blue.

Only selling to make room for my new 4 burner turbo nutter Beefeater BBQ

« on: February 01, 2011, 01:17:04 pm »
Just 24 hours now until we fly out to NZ and Oz for a month, can't wait to see my daughter and my new granddaughter.

All good news when I get back too, I've just been officially appointed the new general manager at Oakhill, the company who bought my company last year.

Questions and Queries / Brake pads
« on: January 25, 2011, 09:16:53 am »
Didn't we have a thread about squealing brake pads? or more specifically about to stop them squealing?

I have to change the pads on the pickup soon and vaguely remember people offering their tips. I used to use loads of copperease but I'm sure someone came up with a link to  purpose made product?

Yep, need to start looking at moving this out as my new job dictates a car not a pickup. Proper VSI lpg conversion less than a year ago. A couple of minor paint blemishes to sort out when I come back from NZ

Not sure on price yet, thinking around 13.5k
