General Banter / Hello strangers. Is this American enough?
« on: June 15, 2016, 08:33:06 am »
Long time no see.

I'm now working for Tesla. So on my travels have been taking plenty of pics.
Does this class as American enough even though there's no engine, it's RHD and I don't own it?

Hope you're all ok...

Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / Breaking - Jag XJ8 3.2 - LWB
« on: July 07, 2012, 05:15:55 pm »
Breaking:- 1998 3.2 XJ8

Navy Blue exterior

Light Cream interior

Here is a link to some pics - Jag XJ8 pictures by Fieldy6686 - Photobucket But can take pics of anything upon request and E-Mail over.

I have to break my beloved XJ8. I bought this on a whim hoping it would be a great car for my wife, but it has a niggly issue which, with the right know how & tools, could be an easy fix... I simply do not have either of these or the money to pay someone else to do so.

The Main Issue:-

The cars crank pulley is loose. It comes loose due to the female thread on the crank shaft being worn. This has been confirmed by a Jag specialist who quoted me only £100 for it to be re-threaded. Un-fortunately the labour to remove the front of the car to get access makes this the issue.
If someone had the tools etc to remove the rad, bumper etc, this is a cheap fix. The Pulley itself is fine. The bolt is new & so it the cone that sits inside the pulley. I have receipts for proof of purchase of these parts including the pulley and the drive belt. The only issue is the female thread as previously stated.

Now on to some more info:-

It is a 1998, 3.2 V8.
It has just 79,000 miles on the clock.
I have stamped history as per the following by a main Jag dealer:-
18.03.1999 - 10,404
17.01.2000 - 24,950
06.07.2000 - 29,859
20.07.2001 - 39,534
11.07.2002 - 47,768
15.07.2003 - 58,417
20/07.2004 - 64,139

It has just, ironically, had a service done by my neighbour including oil change, air, fuel and oil filters. I have receipts for the service items from Euro Car Parts.

There is a small chip in the windscreen near the passenger side which has been 'Gelled' under my ownership by Mobile Windscreens. Again, receipts to prove.

The multi-CD changer is missing from the boot, but it does have the original head unit which is fully operational. (Alpine Built - Tape)

Rust - There is some. The rear arches have a little rust, but not terrible. There is some rust bubbles on the boot lid but not greatly noticeable.

Other Info:-
It is a LWB model

Everything available. The Air Con Doesn't work and the wheels are missing the center caps, also the tyres are next to no good. All legal, but not worth much.

Interior is almost perfect! There is slight wear on the top of the steering wheel, but the seats are fantastic. Electric front seats including elec head rests.

Wooden gear knob.

The car is based in Severn Beach, Bristol/South Glos area.

Can be viewed if needed, or as previously said, I can e-mail over pictures.

Hi all,

anyone available to transport a VW Beetle from Rugby to Cannington, TA5.

Next week would be an ideal situation. Cash paid.

It is for a freind of mine who has been let down so any help would be greatly appreciated... It might only need to go to Bristol area so slightly shorter journey and a nice ham and coleslaw sandwich will be waiting!

Thanks guys...

For Sale:-

1998 3.2 XJ8.

Here is a link to some pics - Jag XJ8 pictures by Fieldy6686 - Photobucket

This is going to be the most honest 'For Sale' advert ever....

I have for sale my beloved XJ8.

I have receipts for proof of purchase of these parts including the pulley and the drive belt. The only issue is the female thread as previously stated.
Currently the car is sat on my drive trembling with the prospect of being broken up, this will be my alternate avenue.

Now on to the rest of the car:-

It is a 1998, 3.2 V8.
It has just 79,000 miles on the clock.
I have stamped history as per the following by a main Jag dealer:-
18.03.1999 - 10,404
17.01.2000 - 24,950
06.07.2000 - 29,859
20.07.2001 - 39,534
11.07.2002 - 47,768
15.07.2003 - 58,417
20/07.2004 - 64,139

It has just, ironically, had a service done by my neighbour including oil change, air, fuel and oil filters. I have receipts for the service items from Euro Car Parts.

It has current MOT until only July 26th, 2012. However, during the service it was found to need the following things by my neighbour (This is not an official MOT test...):-
Bottom ball joints bushes, both sides
New discs on front would be advised
Pads all round

There is a small chip in the windscreen near the passenger side which has been 'Gelled' under my ownership by Mobile Windscreens. Again, receipts to prove.

The multi-CD changer is missing from the boot, but it does have the original head unit which is fully operational.

Rust - There is some. The rear arches have a little rust, but not terrible. There is some rust bubbles on the boot lid but not greatly noticeable.

The Good Bits:- (Believe me, there are some!)

It is a LWB model so slightly rarer....

Got to surely be the best colour combo. Navy blue exterior with cream interior.

Everything works as it should except the air con doesn't blow cold & the original car phone is also missing.

Interior is almost perfect! There is slight wear on the top of the steering wheel, but the seats are fantastic. Electric front seats including elec head rests.

The car is based in Severn Beach, Bristol/South Glos area.

The car is registered under my name, I have 2 keys for it and one RCL fob which works fine.

I would like to see around £800 for it as it is including the tax which is not due until Feb, 2013. But reasonable offers will be considered.

I will keep it on my drive for just 2 weeks before starting to break it so please be quick if you have an offer.

General Banter / Tell me about A4 estates... ArtB?
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:55:12 am »
Hi guys.

In the market for a diesel estate load wagon.

I will probably end up with a Mondeo but would like to look at my options.

What are the A4 estates like to work on, bills wise? Parts prices? Etc.

My Bro had the V6 and it was ludacris money to fix, are the straight 4's ok though?

Thanks

Computers and Games / Storage ideas?
« on: April 04, 2012, 05:41:31 pm »
Currently I have an old mac book, quite simply, I can't afford a new one.

The old 120g hard drive is full, but the rest of the computer is superb.

I have lots of music so simply:-

What is the easiest way of storing my music to free up my laptop? I quite fancy a network based hard drive but no nothing about them? Is it simply plug into home hub, set as home drive for my music in iTunes, then my laptop will use that from now on? (leaving my software etc in the mac hard drive of course).

What would/have you done?

Where did you buy the solution from?

Thanks all, it's a real issue and can't spend £1299 on a new mac.

Mirrors, Windows, seats, head rests lol.
Auto Headlights.
Full Service History up until £7k miles ago

Full, wood dash

Bad points :-
Centre caps on wheels missing
Boot button doesn't work (button on dash and Remote though)
CD Changer is missing

3.2 V8 = 30mpg on a run (Apparently)....

Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / '00 Chevy Blazer 4x4. Bristol - £1550
« on: February 14, 2012, 10:59:52 am »
For sale is my wifes Chevrolet Blazer. It is as follows:-

RHD - UK Vehicle from new supplied by Vauxhall

Year - 2000 - On a W plate

MOT   - 14/06/2012

Tax    - 31/03/2012

Mileage - 118,000

Engine - 4.3 V6 Vortec engine. Very, very good engine, used in many US vehicles. Parts very easily available from RockAuto.com. Will get 20mpg if driven normally, maybe a little more on a cruise, a little less if you overtake every person in front of you.

Gearbox - 4 buttons on dash - 4X4 Auto - Will stay in 2 wheel drive unless it loses traction, then will automatically use 4x4. 2 Wheel Drive - Permanently in 2 wheel, rear wheel drive. 4 wheel High - Hi ratio, 4x4 drive. 4 wheel Low - Low ratio 4x4 which works brilliantly.

Everything Else - Condition wise I would say it was better than good for it's age, but not showroom by any means. There are no major dents, but there are a few area which have been touched up with touch up paint pens. There are a few, small, scratches around it variously and one bit of chipped paint on the bonnet about the size of a 5p coin. Looks like a bit of bird poo!

There was 2 advisories on the last MOT, Tyres which obviously got sorted, and an 'Idler arm'. I haven't done the idler arm as I only do a couple of thousand miles per year in it, so it was going to get done with the next MOT. It is a cheap fix though (Sub £100).

It DOES NOT have a tow bar though...

Interior - Full leather with heated, electric seat up front. Extremely comfortable. Very large boot. Interior is in great condition with only a couple of things against it, The stereo is crap to say the least, but only the speakers. The CD radio works good. The electric wing mirrors don't fold in using the button anymore either.

That's pretty much it. It has been a good truck, I was not going to actively sell it, but after writing all the info up for a possible P/X, I thought I may as well copy it here and see what else was happening around at the moment.

Will take £1550 cash,

Or P/X something sensible for my family so must be a large size eg - Tourer etc. Something Yank like a Buick, Oldsmobile or lincoln or any other manufacturer from around the world really! Engine size not an issue but, as said, must be large enough for my family, even a double cab pick up would tick the right box!

I have attached pics as you can see.

Please reply with any questions or PM me here.

General Banter / Another Mondeo question - URGENT
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:52:40 pm »
Hi guys,

Can anyone help me between now and the morning regarding two Mondeos and confirmation they are the same? I need the green one as a donor car.

Mine is a 2.0 Zetec-S.... Would the 'S' make a difference over this one for sale except the body kit?

Hi mate, are you still making stickers? Can you PM me a rough price per sticker if I was to say, order 100, posted?
If the price is right, I would be interested in 100 of each design over 3 designs.

Any way, just an idea I have and you are the first, and only port of call for prices as I would rather offer the service to someone I know (Sort-Of, seeing as we have never met!)

Anyway, cheers.

General Banter / For Andy.... Mondeo Help
« on: April 28, 2011, 09:42:24 am »
Hi mate,

Need to source a supply and return pipe for my 2.0 Zetec.
Need it ASAP, but Ford want £75 + VAT, which is probably a fair price but I am tight (So tight in fact I took the car to it's MOT today with spare tyres in the boot just incase I had to buy one! )

You know of anywhere/Anyone who might help or should I just go to Ford and stop being so tight?

Looking for some music similar to Johnny Cash, do you have anyone you would recommend? American country/travelling tunes?

Up for sale is my E30 325I SE.
On an H plate.

Will MOT before any deal is done, so:-

MOT - 12 months
Tax - None
90,000 on the clock (Only recent history, but, very clean inside and out, seats etc are great and I have no reason to believe mileage isn't correct)

Being the SE it has elec mirrors, sunroof, windows on front etc. Auto, 4 door. No head unit, but all speakers etc are working A1.

I have owned the car for 1 1/2 years, now looking for something better for the 2 kids and dog. Been garaged under my ownership. I put a new battery on, but, I have 2 motors already so it doesn't get used too often (Only about 1000 miles since last MOT I guess??)

The rear has a very, small dent where my wife backed into something small, the front fog (forget which side), has a crack as my wife went into something small too.... Very small bubble on rear arch, not broken through, but thought I should mention it....

Pics -
Exterior - Taken about 3 months ago, since been garaged.
Interior - Taken before I bought the car, but not much has changed....

Car is based in Kent. I can be contacted on here on at alan.l.field AT gmail.com
Cheers
