For sale is my '96 Astro Starcraft.

Main Points
4.3 V6 Vortec engine (The engine to have).
On a recent run to Devon it sat at 30MPG, with my wife, 2 kids, 2 dogs and loads of luggage.
4 Captains chairs + rear bench seat. This gives you the option of changing it to the double bed in the back.

Good bits:-
*Good mileage:125,000 KMs on the clock.
*MOT - June 21st, 2011
*Tax - May 31st, 2011
*Good stack of history.
*On order is a full load of bits for a full service, This is included in the sale once they arrive.
*Original TV and video. They are absolutely useless however, but, shows some decent standard features.
*PS2 included in sale. This was bought to plug into the un-bought flat screen. Would need a new power cable, but games etc included.
*CD player.
*Mood lighting all works as it should.
*Air con works as it should.
*Cruise Control.
*Good tyres all round.
*Will be getting the Rad flushed on Thurs evening with a fresh lot of anti-freeze ready for the winter.

Bad bits:-
Rear bumper cover missing
Stupid back box on it, BUT, new exhaust pipe right through as it was rusted out. Only done 4 weeks ago!
Few cracks on the side skirts as you would expect. (See pics)
Only one key.
Center caps missing from the alloys.
Steering wheel is a little worn (Now we are just getting picky!)

This description is as I see it. It was bought for the family as we had a big dog, but, due to recent events, we no-longer have the big dog and she won't be replaced, so I can finally get my other car on the road. I can't justify 3 cars on the road, so one has to go (Contemplating saying goodbye to my Mondeo mind!)

All mechanics etc are as they should be, and seriously didn't see myself selling it. Comfiest car available to drive a distance, and my wife uses it to go shopping and town with ease. This van would need very, very little to make it look 100% again.

£2695 ono.
Car is based in Kent and can be viewed.

Up for swaps is my E30 325I SE.
On an H plate.

Will MOT before any deal is done, so:-

MOT - 12 months
Tax - None
90,000 on the clock (Only recent history, but, very clean inside and out, seats etc are great and I have no reason to believe mileage isn't correct)

Being the SE it has elec mirrors, sunroof, windows on front etc. Auto, 4 door. No head unit, but all speakers etc are working A1.

I have owned the car for 1 1/2 years, now looking for something better for the 2 kids and dog. Been garaged under my ownership. I put a new battery on, but, I have 2 motors already so it doesn't get used too often (Only about 1000 miles since last MOT I guess??)

The rear has a very, small dent where my wife backed into something small, the front fog (forget which side), has a crack as my wife went into something small too.... Very small bubble on rear arch, not broken through, but thought I should mention it....

Looking for a tourer, but, open to some other retro estates.... But, nothing crazy odd as I need to be able to get parts

Pics -
Exterior - Taken about 3 months ago, since been garaged.
Interior - Taken before I bought the car, but not much has changed....

Car is based in Kent

Picked up my new Astro yesterday evening.

70,000 miles, Starcraft Brougham thingy.

Drove it back nicely, 60mph on cruise control. Lovely.

Straight swap for the Navara.

Could be tidier, could be worse, the Navara was no oil painting.

Guys, not good at this as I've never done it, but I need, yes need, one of these as I suck at holding my new born!

It is $30 in the U.S, no idea on shipping here, or £35.99 PLUS P&P of £5.99 from UK, and I don't even want the green one, I want the pink or blue.

Anyone know what I can do?

Just testing the water really, not too fussed but since buying it we have been blessed with another child so we are looking at our options in vehicle even though this still ticks the boxes.

It is a '99 D22 2.5TD. It is the model with the reliable motor, and is proven here.

Simple facts -

MOT - April 10th 2011. Passed 1st time with NO advisories.
Tax - June 30th 2010
Miles - 122,000
History - Tonnes of history, full folder breaking at the edges of it.
Extras - Chrome rear bar.
Carry boy cover with key.
Proper tow bar with full elecs (Un-tested under my ownership).
Power steering.
6 disc CD, tape and radio stereo.
Elec windows front and rear
Remote central locking
Full length runner steps
Alloys with loads of tread on every tyre.
Rear load protector.

The truck is what it is, I haven't washed and polished for the pics so you can see how it is. It has some crappy looking rust spots at each front corner, it has some bubble spots at the front of each rear arch, it is muddy, rough and ready. The boot smells of damp dogs and the interior smells of those air freshners you get from the polski wash places (although this has never been)

I have owned this vehicle since 1-8-09, it has let me down once in the 12,000 miles driven due to a naff battery which was replaced for a brand new one. It has regularly got myself, my kids, my wife and 2 dogs to Devon and back from Kent. The 4 wheel drive engages as far as I know, the manual box is easy to shift and it drives lovely. The mark on the bonnet is bird poo, the rear drivers side lense has a tiny crack but passed the MOT. It has various dinks and bumps all over which we will blame on other people parking.

The fact it passed its MOT with no advisories says it all. It drives, pulls and could probably push what-ever you want.

And questions please PM me here, or even quicker responses will be answered on 07590 482 422, or alan.l.field AT gmail.com

Looking for £2450 OVNO. The truck is based in Gravesend in Kent.

General Banter / Cruise control or speed limiter....
« on: April 08, 2010, 08:44:24 am »
I would like to fit a speed limiter to my D22 Navara, there is a reason behind the madness, or, if that is too expensive, cruise control.

How do you do it? How much would it cost?
