« on: March 15, 2008, 02:16:20 pm »
took it out today and its running like a bag o shite its missing all over the place and cuts out randomly at idle

i have 4 ECU codes

32.   Fault in barometric pressure sensor circuit OR Fault in exhaust gas recirculation valve diagnostic switch OR Fault in electronic vacuum regulator valve

34.   Low voltage (high vacuum) at mass air flow sensor (or MAP sensor) mine is MAF

36.   Burn off at mass air flow sensor OR Problem in transmission shift OR Fault in direct ignition system OR Missing pulses in electronic spark timing signal

42.   Fault at electronic spark timing circuit OR Fault at direct ignition system OR Fault at fuel cutoff relay circuit

looks kind of  like an ECM fault to me

any ideas i feckin hate electrickery in cars

guys the codes have cleared out so they might of been old ones

right i took it out again and it runs fine until you give it some throttle then its all over the place and struggles to drop a down a gear and it pings like mad under load

gotta be timing and or vacuum aint it

Wow!! You have a couple of things going on. Code 32 coud be as simple as a vacuum line, at worst a bad EGR valve. Not enough to cause it to run THAT bad. Check the connections at the EGR solenoid, the solenoid itself, and the valve. My guess would be the diaphram in the valve itself.

Code 34 and 36 sounds like a bad MAF sensor. Check your air intake hoses, and electrical connections. I'm sure you've done all the basic stuff, so it's probably the sensor.

Code 42 sounds like a bad ignition module. Ignition timing is read by the ECM through the module. That sounds like the biggest problem. It will defintely cause the majority of the problems he's having.

Hope this helps.

EGR solenoid has its own fault code....

def sounds like there was a whole word of things going on.. when you went to buy the car, did you get anything when you scanned it?

chances are it will throw codes again if thats the case..

as soon as you get the light again, pull the c odes and post them up, might be able to get a better idea of whats going on from there.
