Power to manual windows
« on: November 23, 2007, 05:18:31 pm »
I need to change the windows on the camaro to manual rather than power - which no longer works anyway. I'm sure someone (Philo?) told me that some of the early 4th gens came with wind up windows? I can't find anything on t'internet about them anywhere (haven't really looked that hard tbh as too busy at work)

can anyone confirm that they did fit manual windows to some models and if so from what year?

The power option is not being fixed so please don't go there

fieldey has manual windows in his 4th gen.. i'd sugest speaking to him, he may be interested in having his upgraded to power.. i believe his interior may be grey too, so you can swap door cards et all...

Manual window are lighter too aren't they ?

My old fourth gen was near poverty spec but even that had leccy windows and air-con.

You may get lucky on ebay .com ?

I'll pm him later, trouble is all of the leccy window stuff behind the dash either doesn't work or has been ripped out of mine so unless GM fitted the loom in place already its not going to be a staight swap

Its finding the right ones to fit and all the bits that come with it; I'd like to keep oem door cards rather than fitting an ally sheet if I can

I found the parts I need (I think) on a GM parts site, about $145 for each regulator (retails is $270 ea ) and about $20 each for the handles - the door cards are about $350 each though so ally might be looking more attractive by the minute.

G, if you've got a contact who could let me know eactly what parts are required for the swap, and a price, I'd be interested, not too bothered about the door cards tbh - I'll try and pick some up from a scrappy or just go ally

Got the camaro out of the lorry today to bring home to her nice warm garage; hasn't been fired up since the end of sept - took a new set of plugs, half an hour and half a can of easy start to get the b*gger to fire up then an interesting drive home up the great brickhill by-pass, A5 and past the Caldecotte Arms - all within the national speed limits officer
