Classifieds & Useful eBay Links / My book sale on Ebay!
« on: October 30, 2008, 11:30:16 pm »
Hi guys and gals,

I'm flogging some of my old books (mostly Camaro except this one)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300270009413&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=020

There are 6 Camaro books and manuals on here, 1 Ford Capri book and the one above that might be of interest to Edge or Pod!

Cheers,

Giblets

Howdy folks!

Hope you're all well?

Having to sell Mel's Bimmer as we need something bigger for family holidays that can incorporate grandparents and their luggage too!

Have a look at the auction as I've started it at the ridiculously low part ex value given to me by the trade. I value it at a grand more looking around, but am hoping to get about £4k for it as it's in above average condition for the miles.

If I can get near £4k for it I will put 12 months MOT on it, but as it stands that will make no difference to the part ex value so if it doesn't sell I will have to part ex it anyway, and dont want to waste money on the MOT obviously.

Spread the word good people!

General Banter / R8 for the weekend!
« on: December 07, 2007, 02:29:17 pm »
As a perk with the job I've got my bosses black Audi R8 for the whole weekend!

Shame there's no meet as I could have brought it along and had some fun with Baz's Viper!

Will post some pics here shortly.

General Banter / What's happening party people?
« on: November 22, 2007, 06:01:57 pm »
Hello again to all,

As you may have guessed I've been starving myself of all things CAR to ease the pain of being 'out the game' as it were.

It seems I sold the IROC waaaayyy too soon as my house is still on the market 7 months after putting it up for sale. Luckily with the basketball season in full swing, work being a bitch and juggling a small boy I don't have much time to reminisce.

I'm morbidly curious though as to how Mike's project is going with her, and I only hope she hasn't fallen victim to some garish paint job and monster wheels! Any news appreciated?

Other than that how is everyone?
How many cars has Ian bought and sold since I last logged in?
Has Martyn picked up any more injuries?
Has Philo grown?
Has Pod completely stripped his Mustang out yet to improve that quarter mile time?
Is the Chavscort alive?

I know I've been quiet, but I hope to have something polluting to drive by next summer, even if it's a bit of a cheap heap like my white Mustang GT Convertible.

Take it easy,

Rafe

General Banter / The Speed Camera's finally got me.....
« on: September 03, 2007, 05:35:36 pm »
I suppose my luck was always going to run out one day.

I've got clocked doing 40mph in a 30mph road in central Birmingham that I thought was a 40mph at the time!

I remember the flash though and thinking I must have been within the speed limit......

.....however a quick Google search showed another guy on this forum having been nabbed by the same camera:

http://forums.pepipoo.com/

and it was a 43mph in a 30mph in that case.

Does anyone know a failsafe way of getting off these minor offences as I don't want to enter a game of chicken with the law and just ignore all threats only to be summoned to court in Brum?

It looks like a standard 3pts and £60 fine offence to me.

Cheer all

Questions and Queries / Tyre Help?
« on: July 23, 2007, 09:34:25 am »
Chaps,

I'm finding it very hard to get 2 new tyres for the IROC at short notice to get through my MOT this week.

My Tyres have an order thats taking too long.

E-Tyres will take 2 weeks to get them in.

North Hants Tryes and STS Tyre Pros have nothing in that size.

The car needs:

245/50 ZR16

Anyone know anywhere else I can try?

Ta!

General Banter / Hidden away at Bletchley Park........
« on: July 20, 2007, 11:08:20 pm »
Did anyone else spot this lurking at the rear of the car park on the right as you drove in?

It snuck in sneakily while my mate was showing me his new wheels at the show!

It's the limited run 722 version as 600 odd bhp obviously wasn't enough.

I would have liked to have seen the driver open it up but there aren't any salt flats in Bletchley!

Questions and Queries / Weight of my IROC?
« on: July 18, 2007, 03:21:54 pm »
Roughly in kilos, how much does my IROC weigh?

My MOT guy reckons the handbrake ain't up to the job assuming the IROC weighs about 1800 kilos.

I'd say it weighs less than that, and Rocky's MOT guy had no problem with it last year anyway.

Aside from that 2 cracking rear tyres bolloxed my MOT anyway, which is another £172 plus the retest fee.

ARSES!

Questions and Queries / Opinions required please! IROC seats.
« on: May 30, 2007, 05:04:06 pm »
This guy has e-mailed me through ebay and wants to swap his Trans Am black and grey cloth seats (see pics) for my leather tans ones with £200 going my way.

Given that my tan leather ones hardly match anyway, I'm thinking this won't make much if any difference in value to her if I swap them over, and i will be £200 wealthier.

Plus they look awful in this dudes Trans Am as he has tan leather door cards and beige carpets and interior trim anyway!

Will the fact that they are not original Camaro seats put buyers off given the price I'm asking, or do you think most buyers would prefer the better colour match?

OPINIONS PURLEASE!!!!

and my current interior by way of comparison......

General Banter / Fast Fleet
« on: May 02, 2007, 05:06:48 pm »
Last time I took a picture of the whole fleet it was as below back in winter 2005.

2000 Subaru Impreza P1
2002 Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi SE
2004 Mini Cooper
1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT Convertible

2 years on and only the Mini Cooper survives, although to be fair the Impreza P1 was only on loan for a few months from a mate!

2000 BMW 328i Touring
2006 Audi A4 2.0 TDi S-Line
2004 Mini Cooper
1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 IROC-Z

As quick as the 328i is, even 206 lbs of torque doesn't feel much when you're used to big V8's and turbo diesels.

The Mini Cooper still out handles them all but you have to drive it fast on 'momentum'!

Not sure if many of you are on Facebook as I don't have many of your e-mail addresses, however if Ryan, Rocky and HRC are then they might want to join me in this group:

Questions and Queries / Bodyshop recommendation please chaps?
« on: March 20, 2007, 09:22:18 am »
I want to get a slight ding and scrape on Mel's 328i Touring sorted out without breaking the bank, and wondered if anyone knows of a good reliable bodyshop in the Beds/Herts area that I could use?

Doesn't have to be yank friendly of course and I'm not looking to spend a lot on it. Just dress it up a bit with some new paint and knock the ding out.

Many thanks.

Questions and Queries / IROC Door Lock Problem
« on: March 16, 2007, 09:38:40 am »
Thought I’d take advantage of the clement weather and take the IROC into work today.

So I opened her up in the garage, took the roof panels off and put them into the boot, got into the car, went to shut the door and CLANK!

The door wouldn’t shut.

Didn’t have time or space to have a good look but something in the lock mechanism seems to have dropped down and is preventing it from engaging.

I’m hoping that some WD40 and some jimmying about with a screwdriver might sort things although a quick 2 minute poke about did nothing.

Anyone other third geners had this problem?

Any ideas as to what I should do?

I’m hoping it’s a simple fix as I won’t be able to drive it all the way to Rocky’s workshop with one hand holding the door closed!

Cheers.

Mel's company Mini Cooper goes back soon so wanted to get her something practical but fun for me to hool about in.

Step up the BMW 328i Touring!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180093310199&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008

Had a drive today before bidding, and it's a whole lotta car for the money. This car was £29k new in SE spec and this one has leather, sunroof and a whole load of other extras which would have pushed it to well over £30k

107,000 miles is nothing for one of these engines too and it's had a full dealer service history right through and only 1 owner up til Nov '06.

Little bid of bodywork needs seeing too (parking scrape) but other than that it wants for nothing.

I now expect the obligitory 'wanker signs' wherever I drive it!

I can see her getting left with the Audi most days now!

£3500 for a decent 2.8 V6 third gen?

it had better be timewarp clean for that amount of cash!

Fair enough the depreciation is huge on these, but given that is cost £30k new, this has done most it's depreciating already.

Oh yeah I realize it's still a Rover, but a bloody good one!

General Banter / New Tyres for the IROC
« on: February 07, 2007, 02:11:34 pm »
Just ordered from mytyres.co.uk

2 x Kumho ECSTA SPT KU31 245/50 R16 97W BSW

A reasonable £79.60 per corner.

Could have gone for 2 different budget sub £50 tyres, but as I have the Ecstas already and they are the better tyre I thought I'd best stick with them.

Couldn't use Shifty's ahem... password as it gave me no opportunity to punch it in!

General Banter / Christmas IROC pics
« on: December 27, 2006, 03:05:24 pm »
As Christmas Day was dry and relatively salt free I took the old girl for a quick blat around the nice and quiet roads in my area.

Thought I'd also take advantage of a largely deserted Hitchin town centre to take a few nice pics of the beast next to the Christmas Tree in the square.

What do you think?

Wish I had a really decent camera, but this will do for now.
