Good news, andy has a 400 block so have secured that.
He is also going to do all the machine work including some stuff that just wasnt do able due to cost over here. The Block has been cleaned and mag'd it will be bored for the new pistons using a torque plate, line bored on the mains and have the cam bearings installed

We have also decided that the stock crank wouldnt be suitable, it might have been ok if it had been a nodular crank but it wasnt also some one did a butcher job on a ballance at some point in its life and it was also on its 1st grind. We now have a steel crank coming from andy with a fresh 10/10 grind and a full ballance

All in it has cost about £150 more than the machine work over here and we have better parts. Pure Pontiac for teh win thanks andy

Nah not to bad, the sun was out and we had the gas heater on for a couple of hours first thing. Once you close the main doors you tend not to notice the temps

Ok after a short sebatical work continued yesterday on the purple people eater.
Whilst shifty started to remove the masses of underseal from the cowl and the firewall ready for a couple of small rust repairs along with the blocking off of many holes no longer needed i set to and started to remove the interior.

First out was the dash which will be going back in, next was the heater matrix which wont. This will be replaced with one from a mini which is both lighter and more compact. The wireing loom was next to be pulled and a good job as it was mainly held together with scotch locks (anyone who uses these should be flogged within an inch of their life) On closer inspection the fuse board is toast with quite a few of the fuse holders being melted away. I will be rebuilding the loom from scratch with only the stuff we actually require. The front seats were next on the list and a complete biatch to remove since the slide relese no longer worked. These will be ditched although shifty wants them for his front room or garden not sure which. New seats will come probably from a 924/944 porsche when i find a set on that are reasonable. Lastly the dreadful grey carpet was removed, this was actualy bathroom carpet luckily the original black carpet was underneath and in good condition.

only a few pics taken but can be seen here

Im sure that scuttle pannel needs to go as its REALLY heavy i know someone who would buy it .

Looking good mate cant wait to see it going back together. Also are you getting rid of the back seats, Mine has some Indy pace car rear seats and i dont really want to destroy them to recover as they maybe worth a bit in the future.

Yup have made the decision to add a 12 point cage seeing as we have removed quite a bit of the original crash protection

If you want the rears and the wheels, just come and get them

Maybe you should have left the original crash protection in place?
Still in budget I hope.

the original protection wouldnt help muh with a fiberglass front end and also if it decides to try out the roof.

of course, 12 point cage kit is about $250 and my mate wilf said he will TIG it all in for me for a crate of beer. I asked him for a price to build the cage and he said after looking at the kit it wasnt worth the effort and to just order it

Not really, I have always said i could build a race car for £3k that would run decent times and thats pretty much what we will have. Still havnt exceeded the value of the car and it could be sold to make a profit

Not really

I'd have to go with Martyn on this.

You can guarantee there'll be other odd bits you've missed to add to the total.

Welding in the Cage, I'd assume, won't be free . . . .

Shipping / vat / Duty on the lot listed . . .

vat and duty is, shipping isnt added as its coming over with stuff of mine. There isnt much more to get thats needed to race. The cage is a case of beer to my mate wilf so

Looking good.

Did you not think to cover the screen before grinding ?

I made that mistake once . . . Never again.
