Right then, finally managed to get a tow hitch sorted, OK it was attached to a trailer tent but at £1.04 for the trailer tent as a whole item i wasn't going to argue
Towed said trailer tent from Stoke on Trent to the barn on friday, and today myself and ryan finished the re-build / upgrade of the bbq and it now has a much better tow hitch, brakes that work, a jockey wheel that is nice & shiny
and a handbrake that works.
Took some.....how shall we say.....creative thinking (on ryans part) as to how we got the hitch fitted, but in short ended up with the front section of the A frame from the trailer tent sitting inside the a frame section of the BBQ but the wrong way so it essentially created a box section, then we drilling new holes and bolted the whole thing together!!
Some more fun and games were had getting the hand brake to operate correctly as the large cyclinder spacer used on the trailer tent was too long for the BBQ.,...so after thinking of various bits of tube and washers, ryan came up with the brill idea of using stainless steel bolts slightly bigger than the brake rod to fill the gap - worked a blooming treat
So in short the cheklist is:
Brakes - DONE
Tow Hitch - DONE
Handbrake - DONE
Rear Lights - DONE
Repaint - DONE
New hinge - DONE
New Handle - DONE
Touch up scratchs - DONE
Reseal the storage area - DONE
THe only thing(s) outstanding now are :
New grate / grill platform for the charcole to sit on (Phil sorting steel and then will be welded up).
Fitting fridge to front locker (from the doner trailer tent!)
Sorting the back stop (currently works fine resting on the stacks)
BBQ is now "roadworthy" again and will be at the AACUK shows
Been alot of work to get it done but feck me its sooooo worth it now...big big
to ryan for help !!
