Well I was hoping to get 30k miles out of the Panda tyres but at just short of 28k, the rears were under 2mm and the fronts not far off
The cheapest decent tyre option was mail order through Universal Tyres £103.87 for four 175/65 x 14 T rated Hankooks.( they weren't the cheapest but were nearly half the price of the fitted Conti's )The originals were 165's but I decided to try and improve the cornering a little [img]http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />
Now you'd think that since Universal have a fitting centre next door to where I picked up the tyres, they might want to fit them [img]http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />
Demanded to see the receipt and then quoted £70 to fit , valve & balance
Quick Fit wanted £89 something
So I went to see Big Gary
I was given his number a while back as someone who could do tyre fitting ?
Basically runs a garage in his back garden but has a four post hoist and all the tyre fitting gear including a computerized balancing m/c.
OK so it took him an hour and a half but all four fitted, valved & balanced for £30
Also fitted a new rear wiper blade, £3.99 from Aldi for a pair of 20" ones [img]http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />
Cut one rubber in half ( the rear one is only 10" ) and I have 3 spare [img]http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />
So what next ??
Well she's due another service at 30K and there isn't many miles left in the front brake pads, interestingly the Fiat service guide doesn't even recommend inspection of the rear shoes until 40k
