Not 100% sure but a vacuum line that disapeared behind the bulk head wasnt connected to anything, i had to dismatle the entire wiper mech along with the windshield trim to find where it went and then spent 15 mins trying to see where it connected. I also flushed out the map sensor and removed and reinstaled the fuel regulator.

Well the motor is running sweet as a nut but this is where the fun started tonigh.

Decided it was time to roadtest the car and headed off towards the A5, everything was going fine, exceleration was crisp ad i was holding good revs right until it decided to launch the trans cooler pipe leaving me with no drive and an engine bay covered in ATF.

Thanks to titsy and chris who came out with a gallon of atf and a couple of jubilee clips to replace the ones i found after grinding to a hault on a bodge repair by the previous owner. We filled the system and tightened up the jubilee clips and headed of down the road but alas she dumped the lot within 100ft and i ended up being towed home thanks to titsy being a member of the AA

Well it rained heavy last night so it would have been washed away, ATF is a very light oil

***edit***

I was also driving as close to the curb and with the pipe being passenger side most of the oil would have been off the main roadway

As for contacting the police if Northants police cant do you for speeding and get some money i doubt very much they would do anything about oil on the road. In my experience the police are feckin useless at any thing like that

The 2 litres or so you pumped out on leaving the Super Sausage was right across that sid of the road... It made a pretty big puddle...

Won't that have made it worse... doesn't oil just sit on top of the water making it even more slippery...

a mate of mine and his focus took a dive off the road at lakeside services due to diesel on the road from the lorries... wrecked his car, he hit the kerb side on and the centres punched out of both wheels leaving the middle bits on the grass and the wheels all shoved inside the car !
