Nice but too small and it's big brother is out of budget.

Best advice, go into JL, stand in the main area and look at all the displays.
Yup, we're going to have a look on Friday, before seeing Bond (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)
I am veering towards the Samsung though it would have to be a plasma in our price range.

I saw a GroupOn deal for an E6000 I think the other day, 50" for about £600
Bugger, must have missed that, been keeping an eye out on Groupon

Have you looked in CostCo as yet?
We got our 40" Samsung in there and it was a lot cheaper than buying elsewhere (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)
I know they do have a range of 50" TV's in there for Samsung and other makes

Yes briefly but Katie get's JL vouchers for her Xmas bonus, that and the 5 year warranty and they're never knowingly undersold...
Will have a good look next time we go though.

Waiting for the "New Year" sales but this
Panasonic instantly stood out amongst the others in JL, picture quality wise and at 50" is the perfect size.
Got one!! (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/confused.gif)
Went to CostCo on Friday and they had £200 off last years model of the Panasonic that caught my eye in JL, went home and checked the reviews...which were just as good as for the one in JL, In fact I can't really tell what they've changed.
Went back yesterday and bought it as the offer finished today (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)
Saved ourselves £300 for a soundbar...or more likely a bigger TV stand.
Got it all plugged in just in time for the Grand Prix (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/rock.gif)
Very pleased with it so far, HD looks fantastic, SD is absolutely fine considering the size if the screen, not tried the Active 3D glasses yet..apparently they need charging..
The build quality is fantastic, even the remote is one of the highest quality I've seen in a long time...not that we'll need it as anything you can't do on the TiVo remote can be done on the phone / tablet apps (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/cool.gif)
Got a movie on the tablet? flick it towards the TV and it plays on the TV!! How cool is that?
Oh and got carpet fitted, boarded the loft and finished off the front "hall"..Good weekend tbh (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)

well done... good hunting skilz ..
Also with CostCo's 90 day return policy thingy on TV's, if we do find a better deal in the Xmas/New Year sales we'll just take it back (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/wink.gif)

Tried it with the TV converting 2d- 3d on an episode of ST:TNG (SyFi are showing all episodes again remastered in HD) :geek:... It does a fairly good job and you don't get the ghosting/double image you see in the cinema.
I might try it on something that was filmed in 3D at some point but for now the glasses are going back in their box..
